What to expect
【Mount Yotei Spring Water Park】 Also affectionately known by locals as “Kyogoku Fukidashi Park,” it is a hidden gem of a small park at the foot of “Ezo Fuji” Mount Yotei. Not only does it boast sweet spring water, one of Japan’s Top 100 Famous Waters, but it’s also a beautiful spot with few people, perfect for taking stunning photos! 【Showa Shinzan Bear Ranch】 This is a unique attraction where you can observe and feed brown bears up close. It houses about 100 purebred Hokkaido brown bears. They are kept in several enclosed areas. The bears are very interactive, standing up, bowing, and waving when they see visitors. 【Lake Toya Observation Deck】 Suitable for all seasons, you can enjoy fresh greenery in spring, a clear blue lake in summer, the season of autumn leaves, and picturesque snowy scenery in winter. The observation deck provides an excellent place for visitors to relax, especially popular for its twilight and night views, attracting many tourists. 【Jozankei】 Strolling along the stream, the colorful autumn leaves dye the mountain scenery around the hot spring town with vibrant colors, with the view near Nishiki Bridge being particularly recommended. Around the hot spring town, there are continuous mountains, Sapporo Lake, Hoheikyo Gorge, and more, each offering breathtaking scenery! 【Hoheikyo Dam】 The Hoheikyo Dam, located near Jozankei Onsen, is filled with a strong “autumn vibe” in autumn, with mountains covered in layers of red, yellow, and orange! Surrounded by green water, the scenery is picturesque, making it one of the few leisure spots and a famous place for viewing autumn leaves! From the Hoheikyo Observation Deck, the fiery red maple trees, the majestic dam, and the yellow and red autumn leaves clinging to the steep mountain walls form a natural masterpiece, allowing you to easily take photos like scenic postcards!

Reviews
Today I joined the day tour led by Hikaru. The guide was very friendly and humorous 👍. The first stop was Jozankei Onsen; the leaves are starting to turn red and the scenery is beautiful. The second stop was Hoheikyo Dam, which was my favorite part of the itinerary. We were extremely lucky today with wonderful weather, and the photos turned out amazing! The third stop was Lake Toya Observatory, where we quickly picked up some souvenirs and overlooked the brilliant blue Lake Toya from above. The fourth stop was Showa-shinzan Bear Ranch. Due to time constraints and the attitude of "since we're already here," buying the ropeway ticket was an extra expense, but I highly recommend going up the mountain! We didn't have enough time to see the brown bears this time, saving that for next time ~ The last stop was Mt. Yotei Spring Water Park. Although we arrived at 3:40 PM and the sun was already setting, we managed to collect the 6.5°C spring water that our guide Hikaru kept recommending to take home 👍. Even though the time spent at each stop was limited, Hikaru introduced everything along the way in a humorous and relaxed bilingual (Chinese/English) manner, making the whole day's experience very pleasant! Highly recommend the guide Hikaru 👍 Thank you.
Thanks to Eric for being our one-day tour guide. He helped explain the itinerary and recommended some great meals. Next time, we'd love to have the opportunity for an authentic, in-depth tour. The only minor drawback was that the maple leaves 🍁 weren't completely red yet—that part really depends on luck. According to the guide, after October 20th, Hokkaido will be entirely red. Everyone should have a chance to witness the magnificent autumn foliage!
On October 8th, the maple leaves hadn't turned fully red yet, but the scenery was already gorgeous. I highly recommend our tour guide, Hikaru (Mr. Huang)! He is extremely knowledgeable, funny, and witty, making the whole trip lively and engaging. Whether it's the sightseeing introductions or the recommendations for local hidden-gem eateries, everything was top-notch. Traveling with Hikaru felt as relaxed and comfortable as going out with an old friend. He provided both Chinese and English commentary along the way, making this trip even more perfect thanks to him. Truly a heartfelt recommendation!
jenny is very good in both mandarin and English. friendly and knowledgeable at the same time. A bit on the improvement would be the intinerary itself, 30min at jozankei is a bit too rush. can’t even manage to queue for the foot bath. the rest is fine tho. overall still enjoyable and value for money day trip !
A wonderful 10-minute experience; it was the birthday gift I chose for myself.
Our tour guide, Mr Hikaru provided exceptional service during our tour! He is incredibly attentive, professional and went out of their way to ensure our group had a wonderful time. From start to finish , everything was flawlessly organised. We felt so well taken care of!!
Lucy is the most informative tour guide we have ever met! The driver drove very smoothly, making it a very fulfilling day.
good.....................................
Eric gave an introduction in both English and Chinese, which showed a lot of care and effort. The tour guide was concise and effective, excellent.
The itinerary is packed, but you might want to consider dropping one stop to allow for more time at other attractions like Jozankei Hoheikyo Dam.
