Hoa Lu - Tam Coc Day Trip

Because of the floods caused by previous typhoons and the season, the rice fields in Tam Coc river are gone. The water level is too high, so there is only one cave to cross. Boating on the river will not be interesting. Therefore, the tour guide suggested that we temporarily change the itinerary that day and change it to Hua Lu Ancient City (go there by bicycle) > Cruise (2 hours but did not get off the boat to visit the scenic spots/pass through the cave) > Hiking on Wolong Mountain (the itinerary we booked will require an additional entry fee of 1 million Vietnamese Shield, otherwise you can only ride a bicycle nearby. The mountain climbing requires considerable physical fitness but the scenery is beautiful, which is highly recommended). Please note that there is a rest stop before the tour that sells bamboo products. After using the restroom, you will be asked to go to the room to watch a product demonstration, and then you will have time to browse the store. The tour guide basically only introduced the ancient city of Hualu, but did not explain the other attractions in detail, and the English accent was a bit heavy and difficult to understand. Also, the tour guide may want to be humorous and keep saying that he is single and handsome (he is not), but overall he is still a polite tour guide who tries his best to take care of the needs of tourists.

A beautiful experience well worth the money. Your itinerary varies slightly depending on the weather (we went on the hottest day of the year). Our itinerary was 2.5 hr drive, 10 minute bike ride to ancient city, bike back to buffet lunch, 30 minute drive to boat ride, 1.5 hr boat ride, 1hr at another city with a pagoda, 2.5 hr drive back.

An exciting trip that was filled with loads of fun experiences. the highlights being the short but memorable cyle trip, and of course, the incredible river trip. The only fault that I can find, is that the bus stopped at a random location on the way their and back where there was not much to buy food & drink wise, and there was no mention, or time given to prepare supplies for the long bus trips and boat rides. Overall a great day and a pleasent experience filled with excitement.

It took about 2 hours from hanoi to Ninh Bình. First, we visited the bamboo shop for 30 minutes and i bought several things there. It seem that we join with other tour groups with hiking package, so I Had to pay an extra fee of 100kvnd if i choose hiking instead of riding bycycle. The lunch was buffet. We still rode a bicycle after the lunch. The 1.5-2 hours boat trip was amazing with breathtaking view, but the boatwoman tried to sell souvenir and asked for tips after finishing the trip.I gave her 30 kvnd but she was unhappy and said that she want 100 kvnd. This is bad because tip should be optional.

The trip to ancient capital was great. The visit first stop you can choose for hiking or cycling around, it was very hot weather but our guide Dylan tried his best to make sure everyone stay well hydrated. It is interesting to learn about the history. You can also meet locals working in the farm too. Boat ride to cave is the nicest and most special

This trip is worth the penny. If you are looking for something fun like cycling, kayaking and trekking, this is what you are looking for. You need a lot of energy for this trip. It would have been better if the weather is quite cooler. But all in all, this is a must try activities in Vietnam.

One of the bucket list! It was amazing, there are young and elders that row the boat using their feet. The Ancient Capital is also memorable, with so many stories.

Everything is fine, the itinerary and activities are good, and the tour guide is also very professional and careful to take care of everyone, but we don’t know that the boatman will sell souvenirs on the boat. Heavy rainy day. Not much enjoy the outing activities on a rainy day. Kinda boring to visit the Hao Lu Ancient Captial, but there is not much to sightseeing. Recommend joining the hiking tour instead of the cycle one. Nice landscape at Tom Cox, but it’s spending too much time (2 hrs) on the bamboo boat under the rain, ended up getting wet even though I wore a raincoat with an umbrella. Will join the same tour with hiking next time if the weather condition is good.

We experienced cycling, Hoa Lu and Tam Coc river rafting. We were impressed by the continuous spectacular views! There were about 40 participants, which was quite a large group, but we didn't have any problems and everyone enjoyed the tour. Tú was a great guide. Highly recommended!
