Chef Hung-Pickle thought us the secrets behind making amazing pho, bun cha, and spring rolls. The tour started with buying fresh ingredients in a local market then to cooking in a gorgeous kitchen, grilling in the backyard, and even rolling up fresh noodles. Such a fun hands-on experience. Totally recommend — 5 stars all the way!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 This cooking class exceeded our expectations. The experience started with a visit to the local market where we learned about Vietnamese ingredients, herbs, vegetables, and spices. It was interesting to see how locals shop for fresh ingredients daily and gave us a better understanding of Vietnamese cuisine. The cooking session itself was very hands-on. The instructor explained each step clearly and made the class enjoyable even for beginners. We learned useful cooking techniques that we can easily recreate at home. One of the best parts was enjoying the dishes we prepared ourselves. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, and it was rewarding to learn the stories behind each recipe. The staff were welcoming, patient, and created a fun atmosphere throughout the activity. This is a must-do experience for food lovers visiting Hanoi.
Hung (aka Pickle) was The absolute Best teacher chef and made cooking so much fun. Interactive market shopping was a great experience and Hung accommodated for non Pork recipes too at the last minute. Will be going home with new skills, new recipes and new friends. Highly recommend!!
Unsure where to go alone in Hanoi, I chose this activity that combined eating, hands-on experience, and learning. First, I found the course incredibly flexible. I had inquired in advance, and they assured me they could accommodate my enrollment on any day. On the day I ultimately signed up, there were only three students in the class, but we all successfully attended, which completely alleviated my earlier concerns about class size. Another major highlight of the course, in my opinion, was the blend of indoor and outdoor components. As someone who enjoys a lively atmosphere, I really appreciated being able to switch between indoor and outdoor settings. The course content was also quite rich; we learned to make four dishes and simultaneously visited Dong Xuan Market, a Hanoi landmark. The instructor acted as a guide, introducing us to the market's specialties and even treated us to snacks while we explored. While waiting for the class to begin, we were offered special custom-made drinks, and after our market tour, we were provided with water, which was very thoughtful. However, I do have a suggestion for a potentially better sequence of events: perhaps offer bottled water while we're initially waiting. Then, once the indoor class begins, and since we'd be heading to the market shortly after, they could remind us to bring the bottled water (because we were eating on the street later, and the hot weather made us quite thirsty). Afterward, when we return to the cooking classroom for a break before resuming, I imagine the water would be gone by then. A cold drink from the shop at that point would be incredibly refreshing and invigorating, enhancing the overall experience. Nevertheless, many thanks to the chef for all the arrangements; overall, the knowledge gained and the experience were extremely satisfying!
Book this cooking class because you get an experienced chef guiding you, authentic local market experience, wonderful setting in which to learn and practice valuable cooking skills and the meal at the end is delicious. With so many classes to choose from in Hanoi, I would recommend going with Chef Hung because you actually learn to make three Vietnamese dishes that you can cook when you go home - spring rolls, pho bo and bun cha. He creates a really fun environment whilst teaching you how to prounce a few Vietnamese correctly and giving you a go at chopping up pork and making fresh noodles - it was very interactive and supportive. I came away feeling very satisfied after the delicious food and excellent experience. highly recommended!
We had a fantastic and engaging cooking class today. Our chef, Hung Pickle, demonstrated great professionalism and expertise throughout the session. We even went to the local market to buy ingredients and did some food tasting along the way. It was fun seeing all the different fresh vegetables, meat, herbs, and spices. I didn’t make a mistake booking this activity. Out of all the cooking classes to choose from, I’m happy I picked this one. And the kitchen? Wow! It’s very spacious, super clean, and has great aesthetic. You would really love it. The Vietnamese Pho, Bun Cha, and spring rolls were so tasty and filling. If you ever find yourself in Hanoi, don’t miss out on this cooking class. It’s more than just learning recipes — it’s a fun, hands-on dive into Vietnamese culture and flavors. Whether you’re a foodie or just looking for a memorable experience, this activity is 100% worth it. You’ll leave with a full stomach, new skills, and great stories to tell!
The chef is so professional. He led us to the wet market and showed us how to pick the most freshly ingredients. He taught us how to cook professionally and the food we cooked under his guidance were so delicious 😋. it's really worth to join the cooking class and it's highly recommended for food lovers. My 13-year-old loves and enjoys the class so much too.

Even though I'm vegan, they happily accommodated my dietary needs! I was very grateful. The facility was very clean, and I was able to comfortably take my lessons. The detailed explanations at the market and the opportunity to shop there were also a wonderful experience! Thank you very much!
