We happened to visit during a Japanese long weekend, so the zoo was incredibly crowded... it was a bit overwhelming, and combined with the hot weather, it was tough at first. However, we saw many animals we'd never seen before. Even though it was hot, we were lucky to catch the summer event, so the zoo was open until 8 PM, which made it quite worthwhile. The staff who lent us a wheelchair were very friendly, and it was free! We got to see all the animals we wanted, but it felt really strange to see polar bears in such hot weather!
Higashiyama zoo was so vast and had a lot of entertaining info about animals. botanical garden was also magical. got to see the sunset at the sky tower. redemption was easy, just scan the barcode to enter. totally recommend this activity! fun and convenient!
Purchasing zoo tickets online is very convenient, and admission is completely free for junior high school students and younger. After receiving your voucher, you can simply scan the QR code at the entrance to enter the park. We recommend starting your visit from the North Park area and working your way to the South Park area for a smoother experience.
This is a very quiet high-rise observation deck. If you go after the zoo closes, you can't use the roads inside the zoo. Instead, you have to take the longer mountain-ring road. On weekdays after dark, there aren't many people, so the viewing experience is excellent. Unfortunately, none of the restaurants are open, so you have to go back down the mountain to find a place to eat.
If you are an animal lover visiting Nagoya, a trip to Higashiyama Zoo is an absolute must! It offers incredible value, and you're guaranteed an amazing, animal-filled day. We can't wait to come back!
Easy to come in. There were no lines at around 10am. Food inside was yummy. Lots of renovation going on at the moment, though, but overall it was a very good experience.
A great place for leisure, with animals and plants! A prerequisite is having enough leg strength and stamina. There's also the Nagoya TV Tower next door where you can get a panoramic view of Nagoya, as well as an amusement park! It's perfect for families with children. The botanical garden area is like a small forest, ideal for a leisurely stroll!
Took the kids to see the animals. This zoo is very big, with special animals to see. The kids were very happy watching them. There are also combo tickets with the Sky Tower admission. The view of the entire Nagoya from the top was very beautiful.
