Quite unique activities, such as those you just encountered while traveling, are worth participating in. The organizer is very thoughtful and specially prepared lanterns for participants to use as lighting. Maple leaf or ginkgo patterns are projected under the lanterns, which is worthy of praise.

It was very beautiful and worth the visit. There weren't many people so I was able to look around at my own pace, and it felt quite rare as it was only open for a limited time. I also learned a lot from listening to the talk by the monk. The location, within walking distance of Kyoto Station, was also great.

It was very nice. The illuminated Higashi Honganji Temple with lanterns was beautiful. We also had a talk with a monk inside, so we had a very fulfilling time.

First time for an event to be held at Higashi Honganji and Shosei-en Garden. Higashi Honganji Temple of Flowers and Light - Autumn Special Visit: We will offer a one-off evening event combining traditional culture and art

Higashi Honganji Temple is located a 7-minute walk from Kyoto Station, and Shosei-en Garden is a nationally designated scenic spot. We bring you a new way to spend a night in Kyoto, enjoying the changing scenery and drinking or tea while touring the garden on an autumn night. At Higashi Hongan-ji Temple, the multiple layers of lights in front of the Mieido Hall create a large lotus-like scenery, reflecting a different appearance of Higashi Hongan-ji Temple than it does during the day. Beyond that, at Shosei-en Garden, you will tour the ‘‘Five Sceneries’’ such as the moon floating on Ingetsu Pond, the Kyoto cityscape seen through the autumn leaves, and a moment spent in the tea room. Enjoy the scenery and taste of the temple and garden on an autumn night.
