It was all worth it. You learn from all the things you see in the museum. Reality hits you hard when you realize the depth of what the war damaged and its casualties. Translation mobiles are available for rent that helps you grasp more what is exhibited. There are souvenirs on the ground floor and a museum cafe outside the building.
This was my favorite tourist attraction in Vietnam. I learned so much about the country’s history and what its people went through. Honestly, it was a lot to take in while walking through the War Remnants Museum, and it left a deep impression on me. This is definitely a must-visit attraction for anyone visiting Vietnam.
Visiting the War Remnants Museum is a must in Ho Chi Minh. It is heartbreaking to see how Viet Nam suffered during the war, but it is also very informative. The museum displays real artifacts, photographs, and historical explanations that give you a deeper understanding of what happened. It’s a sobering but important place to visit to appreciate Vietnam’s history and resilience.
A must-visit place when in War Remnants Museum. This museum gives a deeper understanding of the Vietnam War, the effects of Agent Orange, post-war life, and the peace movements led by Vietnamese youth. The exhibits are very detailed and emotional, with real photographs and historical records displayed throughout the museum. What makes this museum impactful is that it does not hide the harsh realities of war. The stories, images, and preserved evidence show the devastating effects the war had on the country and its people. It was heartbreaking, educational, and eye-opening at the same time. Definitely a place everyone should visit at least once to better understand Vietnam’s history and the human impact of war.
Very eye-opening with learning a lot about the rough history during the Vietnam war and how this country alone is still resilient to many changes despite having all odds against them! highly recommend for first timers in Ho Chi Minh City!
Our visit to the War Remnants Museum was a deeply moving and informative experience. Seeing the gruesome reality of the history the Vietnamese people endured is incredibly heavy and emotionally draining, but so important to witness. Since it was a Sunday, it was quite crowded, so I was glad we booked through Klook—it made entry very convenient. A must-visit for anyone wanting to truly understand the country's past.
Ticket redemption is fast and easy. Just a tip, If you cannot locate the Anh Viet Hop On Hop Off staff near the museum gate, locate him/her at the bus stop nearby, just a few steps to the right of the gate. as for the experience inside the museum, it was educating in a way that it gives a new perspective on what had happened before, during, and after the Vietnam War.
Anyone who visits Ho Chi Minh should make the essential visit to War Remnants Museum. Everyone needs to substantiate their visit by doing the courtesy of learning Vietnam’s history, particularly in the hands of the US, and understanding that more than just being a place to take pictures of and having a culture to experience, Vietnam and Vietnamese people have gone through so much to be where they are today. Truly an educational and humbling trip, not to mention absolutely devastating. Everyone has something to learn and realize after going through the exhibits; an hour isn’t enough.

Guide

  • Immerse yourself in Vietnam's poignant past at the War Remnants Museum, a must-see destination in Ho Chi Minh City and one of the most visited museums in Asia.
  • The War Remnants Museum is a powerful, if controversial, experience. Its unapologetically propagandist nature and selective focus on the Vietnam War—ignoring conflicts with China and Cambodia—prompt reflection on the role museums play in shaping historical narratives, both in Vietnam and globally.
  • Explore the museum's vast collection of over 20,000 artifacts, documents, exhibits, and films, thoughtfully presented across eight thematic exhibitions both indoors and outdoors.

Founded on September 4, 1975, The War Remnants Museum is a member of the International Network of Museums for Peace (INMP) and the International Council of Museums (ICOM).

It is the unique museum in Vietnam to systematically study, collect, conserve and display exhibits on war crimes and consequences inflicted on the Vietnamese people by foreign aggressive forces. Simultaneously, the Museum appeals to everybody to oppose unjust wars, preserve global peace, promote friendship and solidarity among nations.

The Museum is endowed with 9 permanent thematic exhibitions and various special collections. All year round, a wide range of activities are organized, including conferences, meetings with war witnesses, temporary and itinerant exhibitions. With nearly one million domestic and international visitors per year, The War Remnants Museum is one of Ho Chi Minh City's most enticing cultural and tourist sites.
