Things to do in Datong

my ticket was for 2:30pm but I managed to get in at 12:30pm with my passport (as per usual practice in China). good luck & I hope u get in too! there were still tour groups entering at 4:30+ so it probably closes quite late

Visiting three attractions at a relaxed pace was very enjoyable. The Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, the Hanging Temple (must climb to the top! We did!), and the Yungang Grottoes were all stunning! Our guide, Yao Yanan, was very attentive and responsible, and also recommended many good local places to eat. The tour bus was very comfortable and spacious. There was no forced spending whatsoever. Moreover, the tour guide's explanations were extremely detailed and thorough, covering many knowledge points, far exceeding other guides I have encountered!

cool tour to see and experience the hanging temple but the guide could have been clearer on the transport options for diff groups at the end of the tour as diff groups went for diff itinerary.

We had a good time and I hope to go back to see more places like this with Buddhas and learn more about China.
