Fantastic 5.0
I'm very satisfied with this trip; Shanxi is definitely worth revisiting. The itinerary was well-planned and not too rushed. Tickets and guided tours were arranged in advance, which made everything stress-free and reassuring. Summer, our driver and guide Xiao Pan, and all the other staff members were excellent, enthusiastic, and responsible. It was a great experience.

Fantastic 5.0
Had a great trip! Our guide, Xiao Hou, was knowledgeable and also managed to group and itinerary well. Just to note that those above 60 years old have their entrance fee waived, and are unable to ascend the hanging temples.

Fantastic 5.0
I'm a foreigner non-Chinese speaker, but I still booked this chinese language tour anyway because going to these places without a private car and as a solo traveler is too much of a hassle. The travel consultant, Maggie, was very polite and friendly. The planning went smooth and she answers all questions quickly. Meanwhile, our guide, 彭瑜晏, was very patient with me and assisted me all throughout the tour. She even managed to buy me tickets for entering the Hanging Temple. All in all, I enjoyed the tour and highly recommend it to everyone!

Great 4.0
The ticket is fine, but the problem is that to enter the temple, an additional ticket is required, which is not included in the original admission. Otherwise, it's good, no issues.

Fantastic 5.0
my ticket was for 2:30pm but I managed to get in at 12:30pm with my passport (as per usual practice in China). good luck & I hope u get in too! there were still tour groups entering at 4:30+ so it probably closes quite late

What to know before visiting Datong

Quick snapshot of Datong and what people book

Datong draws most bookings for tours and attraction passes, and demand swings noticeably through the year. Klook booking data shows a clear summer busy period and a much quieter late-winter trough, so the city’s rhythm is driven by seasonal visitors rather than steady year-round demand.

Best months to visit and how prices move

Klook data flags June as the peak month and February as the trough, with demand building through spring and peaking in June before easing again. Prices drift up and down during the year: they are typically lowest in December and reach their highest on Klook in February. If you want lower prices and smaller crowds, consider visiting in December or the late-winter trough; if you prefer peak-season atmosphere and fuller tour offerings, aim for June. Note that demand and prices don’t always move together here—February is very quiet yet shows higher prices on Klook, while December pairs low demand with the lowest typical prices.

Tips for travellers from Singapore

Most travellers from Singapore tend to book about nine days in advance on average, with a meaningful share booking as late as a couple of days before travel and some booking earlier. If your trip falls in the June peak, plan and lock in popular tours sooner rather than later; for December or other quieter months you can be more flexible and often find lower typical prices. Use Klook to compare local tour options and secure bookings that match your dates and travel style.
