Dream Cruises' World Dream Cruise to Nowhere Review - A perfect couples escape and affordable getaway for the entire family

You would have heard of a cruise to nowhere gaining popularity since it was first introduced last year. With a 3-Day-2-Night cruise starting from only $259, it's easy to see why Dream Cruises has been a real hit with Singaporeans!
    SG Dream Cruises World Dream
We recently sent a family on a well-deserved cruise to nowhere. They loved it so much that they wished they had gone for a longer one instead. Here's what they loved about it!

    Nordic Christmas onboard World Dream

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas onboard the World Dream! Now till 1 January 2022, the World Dream has special Nordic Christmas festivities going on. Enjoy a spectacular performance "Jolly Holly" featuring Santa, Nutcracker ballet dancers, Aerialists and lots of laughs from the Fairy Godmother.

Don't forget to stop by the Christmas Marketplace on Deck 6 and grab some Norwegian sweet treat hampers for your loved ones before heading home!

Pre-Boarding at Marina Bay Cruise Centre

Setting sail during such times, I was slightly worried that additional measures would mean delays and inconvenience. But boarding turned out to be a breeze – we completed and received the results of our complimentary Covid-19 Antigen Rapid Test results within half an hour of arriving at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre.
    SG Dream Cruises Antigen Test
The whole procedure was extremely efficient, and we dodged the crowds because we were assigned to groups with different test and boarding times.
Though the cruise was only set to depart later that night, we were able to board the World Dream soon after the test, letting us settle in comfortably into our stateroom.

    World Dream Balcony Deluxe Stateroom

SG Dream Cruises Balcony Deluxe Room
The Balcony Deluxe Stateroom had more than enough room for three.
The Balcony Deluxe Stateroom is spacious enough for a family of four and comes with an ensuite bathroom and shower. This stateroom can accommodate 2-4 people and have soft, sumptuous beddings that will allow anyone a good night’s rest. For families who want a bigger space to lounge around, the Balcony Deluxe Stateroom is definitely the choice to go with at over 22 sqm large!
SG Dream Cruises Balcony Deluxe Room
The Balcony Deluxe Stateroom comes with a Queen-size bed together with a sleeper single sofa bed.
The best part of the stateroom has to be the private balcony that you can spend hours soaking in the sea breeze, staring aimlessly into the horizon and even catching the beautiful sunrise/sunset.

    World Dream Palace Suite

Also available on board the World Dream are the Palace Suites situated in The Palace itself, which is the premium section of the entire cruise ship. Guests who book the Palace Suites have an unprecedented level of service and comfort as well as exclusive access to services and activities, such as their very own premium lounge, restaurants, plus 24-hour butler concierge!

The Palace Suite is 37 sqm and has its own private balcony, Italian beddings on a queen-size bed, a walk-in closet, a luxe bathroom with a tub and shower combo, and a flat-panel TV. Any type of family or couple looking for extra space, privacy, and lavishness, would be more than happy with an opulent stateroom at The Palace.

Guests who book a Palace Suite can also expect a gastronomic journey ahead with set meal entitlements at speciality restaurants including Seafood Grill by Mark Best, Silk Road Chinese Restaurant, and Umi Uma. You can also enjoy complimentary beverages and Afternoon Tea at the Palace Lounge.

World Dream Things To Do Onboard

    1. Spa Session

SG Dream Cruises Crystal Spa Massage
We headed to the Crystal Life Spa on Deck 15 for a well-deserved Swedish massage ($130/pax) to kick things off. I was glad my parents got to have their massage in a private room for couples, and the whole romantic experience I had hoped for was playing out according to plan.
    World Dream Crystal Life Fitness
The spa package also included complimentary use of the sauna for an hour, and by the end of the session, we were so relaxed that it felt like we were walking on clouds. It is here that you can find the 24-hour Crystal Life Fitness Centre. Working out to the view endless sea will definitely serve as extra motivation!

    2. Outdoor Movie at Zouk Beach Club

    SG Dream Cruises Outdoor Movie
The outdoor movies are screened at the “Zouk Beach Club”.
Earlier in the day, I’d pored through the itinerary to pick out the best couple activities to fill up their 3D2N stay, and a movie under the stars was a definite pick. We huddled up for a screening of Fast and Furious on the comfy deck chairs at Zouk Beach Club on Deck 17. We thoroughly enjoyed the unique experience with the cool ocean air at night and barely-noticeable rocking of the cruise.

    3. Mini-Golf

    SG Dream Cruises Mini Golf
I nudged them towards a game of Mini-Golf the next day, a first for my folks, and the many embarrassing misses and lucky hole-in-ones left them laughing and really letting their hair down. Thankfully, the gorgeous, sweeping view of the open sea also upped the romantic factor of the fairly simple – and free – activity.

    4. Jazz Performance and Laser Show

    SG Dream Cruises Laser Show
With a whole range of performances and shows to catch, we also had the chance to kick back at the luxurious Palm Court Lounge on Deck 19 to tune in for a live jazz saxophone performance. All that before capping off a memorable second night with a mesmerising laser show on the pool deck.

    5. Rope Courses, Ziplines and Rock Climbing Wall

Dream Cruise World Dream Rope Course
Thrill-seekers will be kept busy at the Ropes and High Elements Course on Deck 18. For the really brave, there is also a zipline that will suspend you 18 decks directly above the water.
    World Dream Rock Wall
There is also a Rock Climbing Wall on Deck 18 for you to work out those calories before heading back down to indulge in more food.

    6. VR Gaming at Esc EXPERIENCE LAB

SG World Dream VR Game ESC Lab
Experience the first-person shooter ($15) game at the Esc Experience Lab that lets you “walk” through the map – physically!
Competitive souls might fancy the Arcade, Esports arena, and also the Esc EXPERIENCE LAB - a dedicated VR showcase with rollercoasters, mazes and first-person shooter experiences.

    7. Main Pool and Waterslide Park

    World Dream Main Pool
Speed down slippery Waterslides that tower high above the ocean – there’s no thrill like it! Choose from six slides – easy-going chutes for families or heart-racing steep inclines for daredevils. Besides the water slides, there's also the Main Pool and a Kids Water Park at Deck 16. You'll also find a couple of jacuzzis here for you to soak your worries away!
    World Dream Jacuzzi The Palace
Guests of The Palace Suites also have access to the exclusive The Palace Pool area that comes with jacuzzis, gazebos, and a sun deck to catch some of the best views while out at sea!

    8. Themed Events

World Dream Cooking Demo Theme of the month
A cooking demo as part of World Dream’s theme for the month.
And while there were plenty of activities to choose from, we decided on a cooking demonstration. The only thing my parents love more than food is a good competition, and dinnertime in our household often plays out like the latest season of MasterChef.
Having spent a lot of time in the kitchen cooking up a storm during the Circuit Breaker, my dad was keen on attending a kimchi workshop to elevate his Korean cooking skills in time for our next ramyeon night.
#KlookTip: Discover the wonders of Japan on an enchanting journey aboard World Dream from 20 June to 18 September 2021.

    9. Catch Free Shows

    World Dream Shows
One of the hallmarks of going on a cruise is to catch the free shows. Be prepared to be entertained with World Dream's signature show 'Faith' held daily at the Zodiac Theatre.
‘Faith’ showcases a fusion of theatrical performances, featuring internationally ballet dancers, acrobats, the breathtaking Trampoline act of Imfera from Ukraine and an amusing and cleverly put together social-comedy routine act.
Fans of magic can also look forward to Vision by Vincent Vignaud, Europe's renowned illusionist. He will definitely wow you with his amazing illusions and astonishing tricks.

    World Dream Places to Eat

Free Restaurants - The Lido, Dream Dining Room

    World Dream The Lido Buffet
Feasting on the international buffet spread at The Lido against the panoramic backdrop of CBD made it feel like every meal was a date – with the exception of my headcount at the table.
The over 20 restaurants onboard offering everything from sushi to steak left us spoilt for choice during mealtimes but it was the three complimentary dining halls that we frequented the most during our time aboard. Perhaps it was the fact that we did not have to fork out extra money that made our meals extra satisfying.
    World Dream Dining Room Lower
In addition to The Lido, other complimentary dining facilities include Asian cuisine at the Dream Dining Room Upper and Western-style dishes at Dream Dining Room Lower. There, entrees like poached fish and duck confit, along with dimsum were definite favourites. But possibly the best part of the cruise was the 24/7 snack bar that lets you refuel with a cuppa and some pastries while soaking in the view.

Paid Restaurants - Seafood Grill, Silk Road, Hot Pot & More

    SG World Dream Seafood Grill
Photo Courtesy of Life's Tiny Miracles
The World Dream’s three complimentary dining facilities offer more than enough variety to keep you well-fed during those three days and two nights, but for an upgrade, you can top up to feast on filet mignon prepped by dexterous teppanyaki chefs at Uma Uma or on a luxurious spread of lobster and oysters at Seafood Grill and Prime Steakhouse by Mark Best.
    World Dream The Palace Restaurant
The Palace packages come with a set lunch and dinner at these paid speciality restaurants each day. You will also be able to enjoy access to the Palace Restaurant where you can enjoy your meals without the crowd. Those feeling peckish can also visit the Palace Lounge any time for free beverages and snacks, and even a full afternoon tea set!

World Dream - First Halal-friendly Cruise in Asia Pacific

World Dream Halal Food Lido Restaurant
The World Dream is also Asia’s first halal-friendly cruise, with halal dining options and other facilities like prayer rooms.
As the first Halal-friendly cruise ship in Asia Pacific, Muslim guests can conveniently enjoy a fantastic vacation on board World Dream! The Lido Restaurant offers a dedicated Halal and vegetarian buffet section, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a 24/7 Snack Corner. Prayer Rooms are also available on board.

A Cruise Getaway You Will Not Forget

    World dream Main Pool
The trip, though short, was thoroughly enjoyable and I was glad that not only were my parents able to go on the dates they’d been missing out on, I got to spend valuable one-on-one time with them before entering the next phase in life.
If it’s been a long time since your parents spent quality time together, then a cruise getaway is something I’d 10/10 recommend – the many things to eat, see and do truly made us wish we booked the 4D3N package instead.

    World Dream Safety Measures

You don’t need to worry about travelling with Dream Cruises, because they have safety protocols for every guest’s well-being and peace of mind.
The air at the ship is 100% fresh, filtered, and ventilated and mandatory temperature screening and health declarations are accomplished for everyone on deck. All locations undergo increased levels of sanitation, particularly guest cabins plus all public areas. Sanitizing stations are strategically placed throughout the ship, like at restaurants and common areas. There is also a medical centre with isolation wards should they be of need.
