Great organisation and great audio guided tour. I learnt so much from the audio guide and was impressed how well presented and organised the tour was for tourists. All other platforms said sold out but I managed to find availability on Klook, highly recommend!
Visiting the Catacombs of Paris was, without a doubt, the most amazing experience of my life. As someone who is fascinated by everything related to death, darkness, and horror, this place was like a dream come true. Walking through the narrow tunnels, surrounded by walls made of real human bones and skulls, gave me chills—in the best possible way. The atmosphere was eerie yet peaceful, and the historical facts behind it all made it even more incredible. Learning how and why the bodies were moved underground, and seeing how carefully they were arranged, was both shocking and fascinating. It's a powerful reminder of the past and of our own mortality. If you're into dark history or just want an unforgettable experience, the Catacombs are an absolute must.
This is my most favourite historical exploration in my recent first time trip to Paris and I absolutely love the self guided tour. It’s very interesting and easy to understand and appreciate. High recommend everyone to go for this!
Easy check in process and such a unique experience! There are over 100 stairs I believe and lots of walking (some on uneven ground) so make sure to wear appropriate footwear. A must-do when in Paris!
Fascinating experience exploring the "empire of the dead", learning about the history of the underground network of tunnels. Even though the tour was delayed by 1 hour, it was well worth the wait!
The Paris Catacombs offer a hauntingly unique glimpse into the city’s past. Beneath the bustling streets of Paris lies a labyrinth of tunnels, housing the remains of over six million people. This underground ossuary, created in the late 18th century, is both eerie and fascinating. We can walk through dimly lit passageways lined with intricately arranged bones and skulls, which serve as a stark reminder of the fragility of life. Beyond the macabre beauty, the Catacombs also offer historical insights into Paris’s overcrowded cemeteries and their relocation efforts. The experience can be overwhelming, especially for those sensitive to dark spaces or the topic of mortality, but it’s undeniably memorable. Audio guides provide context, enriching the visit. Due to its popularity, lines can be long, so booking in advance is highly recommended and please come at least 30 minutes earlier than your booking time. For those seeking an unconventional side of Paris, the Catacombs are an unforgettable experience.
This is a must do but not for the faint of heart, nor who suffers anxiety or claustrophobia. I should say, this is one of those tours that you shouldn't miss out. We had an amazing time. Take the audio guide tour as it will help you navigate the catacombs
Highly recommend to buy this in advance, ticket is sold out on-site. Just present the QR code and you’re good to go. No long queues.

  • Delve into the stories and myths that add mystique and cultural intrigue to the Catacombs

The Catacombs of Paris are an underground ossuary that holds the remains of millions of people, making it a unique and historically significant site to visit. Originally, the site was a series of underground quarries used to mine limestone to construct buildings in Paris. Over time, these quarries became overcrowded cemeteries, leading to the decision to transfer the remains to the Catacombs. Today, it stands as a place of remembrance and a historical monument.

The Catacombs lie beneath the streets of Paris, and your visit will take you through a network of narrow passages, dark tunnels, and chambers. You'll descend down a spiral staircase to enter the underground world. As you walk through the Catacombs, you'll encounter walls and stacks of human skulls and bones, carefully arranged in a macabre yet respectful manner. This unique display of human remains is a solemn reminder of the city's past and its mortality.
