What to expect
Conquer your fear of heights and cross the highest and longest suspension bridge in Taiwan! In this join-in tour, your guide will meet you at the exit of either Kaohsiung or Chiayi HSR stations and bring you to the heart of Chiayi county. Rising 1,000 meters above sea level, the Taiping Suspension Bridge is 281 meters long and provides the perfect spot to view the Jianan Plain and the Taiwan Strait. The bridge crosses the Sanyuan Rainbow Waterfall from the Wangfeng platform of Meishan Taiping village to Guishan. Whip out your camera as you traverse the bridge and take the best panoramic shots! Next stop is Taiping Old Street in central Dǒuliù, where you can see an almost endless stretch of Japanese colonial era shophouses. Here you can find a mix of bargain clothing stores, tea houses, souvenir shops, and open kitchen restaurants. After lunch, you’ll be trekking up Erjian Mountain where, if you visit in late autumn, sea of clouds will welcome you. The natural environment and climate of the area makes for successful cultivation of tea. You’ll get to visit a local tea factory to see how tea is traditionally grown and processed. You can opt to take parting in other local experiences for additional fees before going back to the HSR station.
