Surf Lesson in Uluwatu Bali for Beginners & Intermediate Surfers

My first surf lesson, and I couldn’t have asked for a better coach! I’m a complete beginner and can’t swim, so I was nervous, but Coach Tank was patient, encouraging, and attentive the whole time. He chose gentler waves in Jimbaran, kept me in shallow water, and made sure I felt comfortable while still having fun. Surfing was much harder than I expected, but he kept cheering me on until I finally stood up! Highly recommended, especially for nervous first-timers. 🏄🏻‍♀️🌊

Uluwatu is often seen as challenging for beginners, but with the right coach, it can be a great place to learn. My coach chose beginner-friendly spots based on my level, while gradually adding a bit more challenge when I was ready. I learned more than just surfing techniques — I also learned a mindset: don’t rush, don’t force it, and trust the process. As my coach said, “easy go, easy win.” I felt safe, supported, and encouraged throughout. Highly recommended!

As a complete beginner, this surf class exceeded all my expectations. I was worried it would be too difficult, but my instructor was incredibly professional and patient. They gave great feedback, corrected my form, and made me feel super safe in the water the whole time. The waves here were perfect for learning, and I actually felt the thrill of riding a wave on day one! Highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Bali who wants to give surfing a try. You won't regret it.

Tangkius is THE best surfing instructor I've ever met in my previous years of surfing trips. He's dedicated, caring, full of experience and expertise, meanwhile super fun and chill. Knowing I'm only in Uluwatu for four days, Tank took me to surf different amazing places including pedang pedang, balangan, dreamland, nusa dua. Balangan beach is by far my absolute favorite surf spot! Also I noticed there are so many surfing school options here in Bali and I've seen other instructors teaching lessons while surfing. It is very obvious some people teach surfing lesson just for the sake of making money, while Tank devoted his passion trying to help me progress, be safe, and have fun at the same time. My surfing technique and knowledge have improved so much the last couple days while in Bali. THANK YOU <3

The instructor was very kind and helpful, so as a beginner, I had a wonderful time. The weather in Uluwatu wasn't great, so we had to go to Jimbaran Beach, and the waves quickly got too high, so we only got to surf for about 1 hour and 30 minutes. However, I think that was a good amount of time for a beginner in terms of physical exertion!

This is my first time traveling to Bali by myself, and I decided to book this aurf lesson, and to say the least this was great😁 I am a beginner surfer, and was nervous at the beginning but the coach and other people made it feel so welcoming, which really helped with the initial nervy feeling. My coach spoke really fluent English so communication was not an issue, and I can tell he was very experienced and professional, had a great time with him. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone that is interested in water activities here, because I will be coming back 💃 15/10 STARS, loved it.

Overall, it was a great surfing experience. The instructor was very responsible, communicated clearly in English, and was very attentive to our safety in the water, constantly watching us and giving many practical tips. Paddling was tiring, but standing up was exhilarating! :) I apologize that my WhatsApp couldn't be activated because it wasn't verified, so I only left my QQ email. I'm grateful they spent a lot of time trying to contact me and eventually reached me via WeChat.
