Reviews
our tour guide was great. she brought us around the museum as best as she could, explaining to us which exhibits we could view on our own. 2 hours flew by too quickly! she navigated us around the museum in the most efficient way, despite the holiday crowd. in-depth explanations and making connections to several Chinese cultural knowledge was a bonus as well!
The guide Zhang Hong's professional knowledge is impressive! Not only were her explanations clear, vivid, and engaging—she effortlessly used fluent Chinese to make complex historical and cultural stories easy to understand—but it was also evident that she possesses a profound understanding of the museum's collections and world history. Far from simply reciting scripted information, she shared many background stories and little-known facts, making the entire tour full of surprises. The itinerary was also well-planned, allowing us to see the most important treasures of the museum within a limited time. The route was smooth and efficient, saving us the hassle of navigating on our own. The guide was attentive to the group's pace, ensuring everyone could keep up and hear clearly while patiently answering all kinds of questions. Klook is hassle free and voucher is clear. Meeting point and time are well planned. no issues at all!
Zhang Hong, the guide, has impressive professional knowledge! She not only explains things clearly, vividly, and interestingly, but she can also use fluent Mandarin to explain complex historical and cultural relic stories in a simple and easy-to-understand way. You can also see that she has a very deep understanding of the museum's collection and world history. She doesn't just read from the textbook, but also shares many background stories and tidbits of knowledge, making the entire tour full of surprises and not boring at all. The itinerary is also very well-arranged. In the limited time, she took us to see the most important treasures of the museum. The route planning was smooth, saving us the time of exploring and finding our way, which was super efficient! The guide also carefully paid attention to the pace of the group members, ensuring that everyone could keep up and hear clearly, and patiently answered various questions. Booking through Klook was very convenient and smooth. The e-voucher was clear, and the meeting location and time were explained very clearly, and we didn't encounter any problems at all. This Mandarin tour is definitely the best way to deeply understand the essence of the British Museum!
I joined a guided tour of the British Museum today, and it was truly rewarding! I was especially happy that they offered a Cantonese explanation, which felt particularly welcoming. The whole process not only increased my knowledge but was also very interesting. The guide was professional and engaging, taking us from ancient Egypt to Assyrian civilization, then to Greek mythology and Chinese Buddhist statues, explaining the historical stories behind the exhibits as we went. Pieces like the Greek stone lion, the realistic Liao Dynasty Luohan statue, the majestic Assyrian guardian deities, and the spiritually infused Egyptian cat statues, all came to life under the teacher's explanation. History became vivid, no longer just cold relics. I am very satisfied with teacher Agnes and sincerely recommend her! If you come to the British Museum, I highly suggest booking a tour and following teacher Agnes's guidance. It will definitely provide a better experience than wandering around blindly on your own.
I visited the British Museum again after 10 years. I was lucky to meet Diana, a senior lecturer. She was elegant and intellectual. The teacher's in-depth and easy-to-understand explanation made up for the regret of the previous rush. The 3-hour route planning was very reasonable, the explanation was vivid and interesting, the knowledge points were very rich, and the questions we raised were also answered well. It was very worthwhile and highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻
On my first visit to the British Museum, I joined the Cantonese shared tour. The guide, Agnes, was friendly and welcoming, with an excellent voice, tone, and informative content. The two-hour tour was relaxed and packed with valuable insights. Before departure, she also clearly explained how to get to the meeting point, important reminders, and more. Highly recommend this tour to travelers who want a Cantonese explanation.
The tour was very professional and easy to understand, perfectly suited to an Eastern audience. You can learn about the museum's origins, and many exhibits would seem insignificant without explanation. Although there's a lot of information online now, allowing you to look things up as you go, museums have so many exhibits that it's better to have someone point out the highlights!
This small group tour was fantastic. There were four of us, and our guide, Xiaozhang, is a museum studies student at UCL. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the historical artifacts, explaining everything in a professional and insightful manner. We really appreciate his company for those two and a half hours!
The tour guide's explanations were very clear, and group members who actively asked questions benefited a lot. However, it's a pity that there was no explanation for the China Pavilion (I did see tour guides with smaller groups giving explanations, which was a shame) and there was no sharing about the Egyptian mummies either.
The Chinese guide Diana explained very clearly, and the three-hour tour left people with a feeling of wanting more. The related explanations associated with the works made the works more memorable. The British Museum has a rich collection and is worth visiting again.
Good to know
- It is recommended to arrive at the museum at least 30 minutes in advance to queue for security checks.
- During the visit, colored drinks and food is not allowed.
- If certain galleries are temporarily restricted from guided tours by the museum, we will provide explanations using a tablet outside the exhibition hall. Afterward, you may enter and explore the exhibits on your own.
