Came here with my husband and mother. A little sad that there was no view surrounding this ryokan. Unlike the ones I stayed in while I was in Hakone and Sapporo. This inn is small and has limited facilities (but it is enough.) Room was spacious and the futon was very comfortable to sleep in, staffs helped prepare the futons for us to rest efficiently. Both breakfast and dinner were good but a tad overpriced for what I was getting (beef portion was really little). The hot spring water was not as hot as compared to other hot springs I've been to as mentioned earlier. Also, would be good if they did some necessary prevention as there were many mosquitoes surrounding us while we were soaking in our private open air onsen. Overall, it was still a pleasant stay.

Wonderfully serene ryokan with spacious rooms, exquisite food, attentive service, and frequent shuttles to the farmers market and train station. We took onsen baths each morning and before dinner and wore the beautiful yukata robes to the onsen and to meals in our private dining room. We have been to many ryokans and this one is among the best.

Fantastic

Solo stay

What I like the most are onsen and services, the hot spring quality is one of the best from my experience. Also very impressed with their services, from the first step in and when I left the place. Breakfast and dinner roon is in a private room, it's really good for people who need privacy. Wonderful trip for staying two night in this place.

Brilliant experience of staying in a traditional Japanese hotel. A traditional room with futons, hot spring bathing, delicious Japanese food, great service, bus service to get to and from town. All in all a fantastic place to stay. Plus there are lots of instructions in English so you don’t have to worry about getting anything wrong and causing offence!

It is an amazing place You really get the full experience of being in Japan. The property is very nice, food is excellent, but the differentiating factor is the service. It is simply incredible.

Fantastic
We had an amazing stay at Hanaougi Betti Iiyama. The facility is incredibly beautiful and classy, just like the pictures, and the food (dinner and breakfast) was extraordinary. But what sets this hotel apart is the level of service. My boyfriend and I arrived and were greeted with the friendly and courteous Okami (landlady). She personally attended to us at our arrival, dinner, and departure, and made sure that we had the best experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to Takayama.

The place was very pleasing to the senses, from the architecture to the greenery. The staff were very friendly, in particular our hostess for the entire journey Yuri. She was knowledgeable and made a difference to our stay. The keiseki dinners were delicious and lovely to behold. An unforgettable experience all in all.

Good
I had decided to stay in a ryokan in a relatively small town, and Takayama is a beautiful, quaint place in the Japanese Alps with much edo-style architecture. I had called 2 days before to confirm my reservation for ONE person since I was asked how many and what gender. I took the very convenient shuttle just minutes after arrival of the 2:30 train. I presented my passport and a bellperson showed me to my room. The building itself is Japanese style though it appeared to be new construction. My room was, by far, the largest I had seen in Japan-much larger than the other two ryokans I stayed in Nara and Kyoto. An entry with a sink and separate “booths” for shower and toilet led to a large living area with low chairs and a table for four. Sliding screens led to the bedroom area with a small table and chairs and two queen sized futons about 2.5 feet in height from the tatami mats. Before leaving for town, I was shown the little room where I would take meals and told that I would eat at 6 PM. I was told that that was the only time available; although, I would have liked 7 PM better. There is a shuttle with a regular, published schedule in the morning and id/late afternoon. Getting into town at other times by shuttle is dependent on factors unclear to me, so I took a taxi (1100 Yen) to explore. Bicycles can be rented in town and it’s a 20-minute walk . I returned and showered for dinner. The shower, toiletries, A/C, noise, and light, and available outlets are more than adequate.
