West Kowloon ⇄ Futian It was stated that I needed to arrive at West Kowloon Station 90 minutes in advance, but since it was a major holiday, I arrived 120 minutes early just to be safe. The first ticket gate is a manned gate. If you show your passport, you can pass through without queuing at the ticket counter. After that, there were several baggage checks and immigration procedures on both the Hong Kong and Chinese sides. I reached the waiting area in 40-45 minutes. Along the way, I also had to scan a QR code to fill out China's arrival card. If it's crowded, it can be a close call, so 60 minutes might not be enough; you'll likely need to arrive 90 minutes beforehand. The gate doesn't open until 15 minutes before departure, so I waited in the waiting area until then. The gate was supposed to open by scanning my passport, but it didn't read correctly, so I was let through the side gate. The return journey from Futian was quite fast; everything was completed within 30 minutes. There were a few checkpoints after arriving at West Kowloon, but they didn't take much time. In the end, my passport never scanned correctly... so I had to use manned counters for everything, but I'm not sure why.
