Fantastic 5.0
Booked this Chichen Itza tour from Cancun and had a great experience overall. Pickup was at 5:15 AM, and the van was comfortable enough to nap during the 2-hr drive. One of the highlights was arriving early at Chichen Itza before the crowds. Our guide, Kevin, was knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights about Mayan history, while our driver, Razel, made the journey smooth and comfortable. After Chichen Itza, we stopped at a cenote for swimming, lunch, and tequila tasting. The cenote and tequila tasting were enjoyable, but the buffet lunch was disappointing and below average. The final stop was Valladolid, a charming town and a nice addition to the itinerary. We returned to our hotel around 6:00 PM. It’s a full 12-hr day, but well worth it for anyone wanting to learn about Mayan civilization and visit one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Great 4.0
There was an issue with the Klook listing. It stated that a buffet lunch was included, but after I booked the tickets, the details showed that the buffet lunch was not included in the price. In the end, we had to pay extra for the buffet lunch on the day of the tour, but the food provided was absolutely not worth the price the restaurant charged. It was very disappointing. The tour guide had a very strong English accent. My husband, who has lived in the United States for nearly 30 years, could only understand about half of what he said. We often couldn't tell if he was speaking English or Spanish, though we could definitely feel the guide's dedication. We departed from downtown Cancun, and it was a truly packed itinerary. We had to be at the meeting point at 4:45 AM and didn't return until around 8:30 PM. It was an exhausting day. Because Chichen Itza was unexpectedly closed that day, the guide took us to Ek Balam instead. We didn't realize we were running out of water and ended up suffering from heatstroke after about half an hour without rehydrating. The weather that day was incredibly hot, which meant we didn't have the energy to properly explore Ek Balam. All we wanted was to get back to the entrance as quickly as possible to buy water. The planning by the staff at Ek Balam wasn't great; many ruins didn't have English explanations, and there was no place to buy water inside the site, only at the entrance and the parking lot. We hadn't planned on actually swimming in the Chichikan cenote, but we were surprised that the staff even required us to pay for a life vest and locker just to dip our feet in the water. Otherwise, we weren't allowed to enter at all and could only view the cenote from the observation deck. Since the water quality inside wasn't very clean, we decided not to go in after all.

What to know before visiting Valladolid

Quick snapshot of Valladolid

Valladolid draws visitors mainly for guided tours and cultural day trips, with demand rising and falling through the year rather than staying flat. Tours are the single largest category of bookings on Klook, so most travellers come for curated experiences and local sightseeing.

Best times to visit and price trends

Klook booking data shows clear busier months and quieter months across the year, with peak demand occurring in the busiest months and a lull in the trough_month. Prices drift through the year as well: according to Klook data, prices typically move alongside demand for many months, becoming more expensive in the peak months and lower in the quieter periods. If you want smaller crowds and generally lower prices, aim for the quieter months; for the peak-season atmosphere, visit during the busiest months when tours are most in demand.

Tips for travellers from the Philippines

Most travellers from the Philippines book about five days ahead on average, with last-minute bookings common within the five-day window and earlier planning around thirteen days for some activities. That makes Valladolid a good fit for flexible, short-notice trip planning, but consider locking in popular tours during the peak months to avoid missing out. Use Klook to check availability and secure guided tours a few days before travel or earlier when visiting in busier periods.
