Travel visa-free to Taiwan until 2020!
[UPDATE as of 2 July 2019: Visa-free entry to Taiwan has been extended to 2020 July 31]
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs just announced that they will be extending visa-free entry to Taiwan for Filipinos until July 31, 2020. Taiwan’s visa-free travel program has been extended another year thanks to the positive results from this years trial run.
The amount of travel days remain the same, however. Philippine, Thailand, and Brunei passport holders are each entitled up to 14 days visa-free travel into Taiwan’s regions and no longer need to secure a visa or “Travel Authorization Certicate” or E-Visa before travelling to Taiwan.
For those who didn’t know, the Philippines was added into Taiwan’s visa-free travel program last November 2017. This meant Filipinos could enter Taiwan with just their Philippine passports and be given a visa on arrival. Since then over 290,000 Filipinos have traveled to cities like Jiufen and Taipei, which helped rack up tourism for Taiwan.
If it’ll be your first time traveling to Taiwan, this is definitely enough to cover Taiwan’s best! In the event that you find this to be rather short, you can always go back for another round until July 2020!
