    Tokyo might be the most popular destination in Japan, but Osaka is a close contender especially for big family trips abroad. With convenient public transportation and plenty of shopping malls, families looking to visit Osaka won’t have much trouble getting around. 
    If you’re planning a trip to Japan and want the kids to enjoy themselves, consider these top family-friendly Osaka tourist spots. It’s not easy to keep them entertained in a big city, so take advantage of the many options available in Osaka. 

    1. Tempozan Marketplace

    We really meant it when we said Osaka has something for everyone, and you can start your Osaka itinerary at Tempozan Marketplace. The large complex houses several stalls where you can purchase souvenirs as well as family restaurants with English menus.  Within the complex, you’ll also find the Tempozan Ferris Wheel and Osaka Aquarium so you can hit three Osaka tourist spots in one day.

    2. Legoland Discovery Center Osaka

    While you’re at the Tempozan Marketplace, hop over to the Legoland Discovery Center for more family fun! Lego-themed rides like the Great Lego Race VR and Kingdom Quest await at this Osaka tourist spot, as well as a 4D cinema and a Lego Factory.     3. Expo ’70 Commemorative Park

    You won’t run out of activities to do at this Osaka tourist spot. Originally used for the 1970 Japan World Exposition, it has since been converted into a recreational park where families can unwind with nature and learn at the museums. Key attractions include the Natural and Cultural Japanese Garden, the Tower of the Sun, the Japan Folks Crafts Museum, and the National Museum of Etymology.

    5. LaLaport Expocity

    Right next to the Japan Expo ’70 Park is the newly built Expocity. Although it’s still part of the massive complex, it has its own attractions that cater to younger children that offer both fun and educational experiences. The shopping and entertainment center sports a 109 IMAX Cinema, Shaun Park, Pokemon Expo Gym, and Redhorse Ferris Wheel – Japan’s tallest Ferris wheel.

    6. Kids Plaza Osaka

    Include Kids Plaza in your Osaka itinerary if you’re traveling with elementary-aged kids. It’s a whole museum dedicated to children where they can unleash their creativity, go on an adventure, and discover their interests. A couple of hours could easily be spent here as all its five floors are filled with educational and interactive activities like art classes and a spacious play zone.

    7. Hattori Ryokuchi Park

    Hattori Ryokuchi Park isn’t as popular as the other Osaka tourist spots, but it’s certainly worth the visit. Get a glimpse of the fascinating Japanese countryside without having to travel too far. It’s ideal for slower days when you want to get away from the crowds and just appreciate nature and rural architecture. Children can cool off at Waterland, which features a wave pool and water slides.

    8. Universal Studios Japan

    Who wouldn’t be excited to visit Universal Studios Japan? Whether you’re a kid or kid-at-heart, you’ll have a wonderful time at this Osaka tourist spot. Exhilarating rides, character meet and greets, and live shows based on popular movies are just some of the attractions you can look forward to. Enter the Wizarding World and be greeted by Minions, Hello Kitty, and Snoopy when you visit the theme park. Don’t wait and grab your Universal Studios Japan tickets while they’re hot!
