The Department of Tourism (DOT) has integrated travel tax payments directly into the eTravel system, meaning you'll need to settle this fee before you can even generate that essential eTravel QR code. This new process aims to simplify and streamline a step that many travelers often overlook.
Previously, many travelers who booked tickets online would have to pay the travel tax at the airport counter, often leading to long queues and last-minute stress. Now, with the new centralized digital platform, you can complete this requirement from the comfort of your home.

What You Need to Know:
New Requirement in the eTravel App
The DOT, in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), announced that travel tax payment is now a mandatory step within the eTravel system.

A Seamless Process
This new feature is available on the official eTravel website and the eGov PH app. It allows you to pay the required fee securely using various methods like GCash, Maya, or any credit/debit card before you generate your QR code.
Who Needs to Pay?
All Filipino citizens, permanent resident aliens, and foreign passport holders who have resided in the Philippines for more than one year are required to pay the travel tax when departing the country.
What's the Cost?
The standard travel tax rates are PHP 1,620 for economy class and PHP 2,700 for first/business class. There are also reduced rates for certain travelers, such as dependents of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
This new system is a game-changer for a smoother airport experience, eliminating the need for in-person transactions and helping you get all your travel requirements sorted out ahead of time.
Important reminders:
1. Some plane tickets already include Travel Tax, so make sure to check your booking itinerary receipt when you input your reference code in the eTravel App.
2. Have your eTravel QR code handy before arriving at the airport to avoid issues while in immigration.
3. Make sure all declarations within the eTravel app is truthful and factual for easy experience going through immigration.
