Booking a local guide is like having a personal translator and experienced local expert, offering you an in-depth tour of Otaru. Transform your sightseeing from a superficial glance to a deep dive into the city's charm.

On the day of the tour, the guide will create an 8-hour itinerary consisting of 4-5 attractions chosen from 10 designated points of interest, based on your preferences.

Completed in 1923 (Taisho 12), the Otaru Canal is an important waterway for maritime transport in Otaru, a harbor city that supported the history of Hokkaido's development, with old warehouses preserved along its banks.

Temiya Line Railway: Built to transport coal produced in Hokkaido from Otaru Port by ship, connecting Temiya to Sapporo and Sapporo to Horonai (present-day Mikasa).

Otaru Music Box Museum: A fantastical world housed in a red-brick building designated as a historical building of Otaru City, and the world's largest music box specialty store. The store boasts a selection of over 25,000 music boxes.

There is also a steam clock at the entrance of the Otaru Music Box Museum.

Otaru Candle Studio: A specialty candle shop housed in a stone warehouse near the Otaru Canal. It features a diverse collection of candles and candle holders from both domestic and international sources. Candle making workshops are available.

Sakaimachi Street: A 900-meter street extending from the Fairy Tale Crossroads, which supported Otaru's prosperity from the Meiji to Showa periods, lined with retro buildings such as old shops and Western-style architecture.

Funami-zaka Slope is known for its steep incline and has been used as a filming location for movies and TV dramas. As its name suggests, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the ships docked at Otaru Port from this elevated vantage point.

The Triangle Market gets its name from the triangular shape of its land and roof.

The night view from Mt. Tengu is known as one of the "Three Major Night Views of Hokkaido." A ropeway that accommodates 30 people runs from the foot of the mountain to the summit in approximately 4 minutes. It is an excellent observation point.

Established in 1899, Tanaka Shuzo is a representative sake brewery of Hokkaido. They carefully select high-quality sake rice produced in Hokkaido, and their sake is difficult to purchase outside of Otaru.

Tanaka Sake Brewery's "Kikkogura" is a rare brewery nationwide that can brew sake all year round.

Review for: Otaru Customizable Day Tour

This tour is a scam. Do NOT Join!!! You spent $300 USD for a tour guide who would WALK with you for 7 hours. That's not what we ordered. We paid for a tour which would drive us around instead of "walking around". We sent the tour guide home as soon we found out this is a scam. In addition, there is no contact at all before the tour. We tried to contact with the company beforehand, but no response. Terrible experience.

On the day of the tour, the guide will create an 8-hour itinerary of 4 to 5 attractions from the 10 designated attractions based on your preferences. The 10 attractions to choose from are: Otaru Canal / Temiya Line Railway / Kitaichi Glass / Otaru Music Box Museum / Otaru Candle Studio / Sakaimachi Street / Funami Hill / Sankaku Market / Mt. Tengu / Tanaka Sake Brewery
This itinerary involves travel by public transportation. Guests are responsible for entrance fees for each facility (for both guest and guide), all public transportation costs (for both guest and guide), and personal expenses.
If all guests are male, we will provide a male guide.
Please discuss the attractions to visit and the visiting time for each attraction with the guide within the specified time range on the day of the tour.
Please note that visits may not be possible due to facility closures or limited visiting hours.
Please note that delays may occur due to traffic jams or bad weather affecting public transportation.
This tour may be canceled due to natural disasters or abnormal weather conditions. In this case, please inquire to confirm the situation.
If the tour exceeds the specified time, or if the guest does not return at the specified time, an additional fee of 3,000 yen per hour will be charged on site.
