What to expect
The Nonie's Group is proud to introduce our newest concept - Island Izakaya, a brand new Izakaya restaurant in Boracay Island serving authentic Japanese cuisine.
Our master chef Kenji Morishima brings his years of experience from Tokyo straight to your plate. With an illustrious career in Japan spanning across Osaka and Tokyo, Kenji comes from a family of chefs- with his dad having helmed and owned many Japanese restaurants as well as working as a private chef to the 58th Prime Minister of Japan.
Kenji is no stranger to success himself, having helmed many restaurants in Japan including the highly successful Ebisu's Live Fish Cuisine Uotake and most recently was the owner of Yataimura Ajikurabu in Nihonbashi. His most recent endeavours have have seen him establish Kenmokko, Inc. in Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture that focuses on the planning and production of Japanese culinary knives.
His passion is to pass on his years of knowledge and the basics of Japanese cuisine passed down by his father to young chefs around the world, while sharing the art of Japanese cuisine.
The menu created for Island Izakaya is a testament to this with a nod to modern and local influences as well - expect simple Izakaya dishes done well in a cozy Japanese bar environment reminiscent of Izakayas in Tokyo.
Enter to a smoky Yakitori grill serving 2 different styles of Yakitori (Tare or Shio) with a range of options from Torikawa (chicken skin) to Buta Tomatoe (Cherry tomatoes wrapped in bacon), a selection of smaller sharing plates as well as Donburis and a wide selection highballs, sake, shochu and carefully crafted Japanese inspired drinks. And of course, you will be greeted with loud Irrashaimase! when you enter.

Miso Soup is so good. One of the best I've tasted, umami flavor was rich. Hefty amount of wakeme. A great soup for starters signifying the level of next dishes. A 10. Edamame not just salty but sprinkled w/ spices to give it a good flavor. A 10. Ebi Fry, was a feast for the eyes. So good to use fingers to nibble on it including the head, crunchy outside & succulent prawn meat inside. Mayo dip was good too. A 10. Yakitoris. Ordered for Tsukuni, Reba (Chicken Liver) & 2 pcs of Hatsu (Chicken Heart) but the later not available so got Reba. Tsukuni good & the Reba was perfectly cooked w/ a creaminess that melts in your mouth. Tsukuni - 10, Reba 11. Oyster Aburi, miso baked oysters. WOW, simply wow! Tried it w/ & w/o lemon. The flavor off the Miso on the oysters, PERFECT! I loved oysters & this is definitely high on the scale, defiinitely a 15 for me. One of the best meals I''ve ever had on the island. Hats off Sir Patrick Florencio - you got a very good team & really great food here.
Island Izakaya is a hidden gem in Boracay and we're so glad we found them on Klook. The place is quiet and calm but full of diners. The food is 1000/100 and we enjoyed every bit of it. The staff is accommodating and friendly and we will definitely go back here once we're back in Bora. Will recommend this!
We tried different items on their menu and they were all delicious! I think this is an underrated restaurant in Boracay, a must try for sure! Will definitely go here again when we return to Boracay :) The place is wasn't too cold but it was one of the few airconditioned places in the island. The server was very hospitable and the food was served pretty quick. Too bad we didn't get to try the salmon don, will definitely get that next time! Their black sesame gelato is also the bomb - it's like the Chinese black sesame balls. Yakisoba and butabara were also crowd favorites.
one of the best hack is to purchased klook voucher , and if your looking for a japanese delightful mouth-watering food try Island Izakaya , they have a friendly and hospitable staff, the ambiance makes more interesting , and the food is a must try.

The restaurant is along main road, in front of Paradise Garden hotel. This is like small hole in the wall legit Japanese resto. They will prepare your food upon order.

From the moment you step inside, the cozy yet vibrant atmosphere immediately makes you feel at home. The ambiance is casual yet stylish, with a unique blend of traditional Japanese elements and island charm. The food is absolutely exceptional! Each dish is carefully crafted, with fresh ingredients that highlight the flavors of both Japan and the Philippines. Their sushi and sashimi are top-notch, and the grilled skewers (yakitori) are a standout—perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection.
