A great experience with Cheeky Kiwi! It was a long 12h day with the 4h drive to and fro Queenstown, but our guide Bob filled it with interesting commentary, ample rest stops and most importantly, made sure everyone was safe (the road conditions in July is dangerous). Our tour had 10 of us, with a mix of people who booked the Ultimate Alpine package and those who booked just the Mt Cook tour. We were really worried because the weather forecast was poor and all flights were cancelled for the past few days, but the sun came through and the skies cleared right before our time slot (phew!) The views were breathtaking! We took the ski plane up to the Tasman Glacier (roughly 30min from boarding to landing), landed on thick, pristine snow (our legs sunk in to the shin, so wear boots!), then made our way across the snow to the helicopter which we took back to the airport. Afterwards, we only had about 30mins to do the Hooker Valley track due to time constraints, which was a pity but in no way the fault of our guide. Overall, this experience may be a bit pricey but definitely worth it especially if you’re not driving/not confident in driving in winter.
Great day with cheekykiwi. Guide was friendly, fun and helpful. Was blessed with gorgeous weather and the helicopter and ski plane rides were awesome. Must do at least once in a lifetime.
dissapointed that our flight got cancelled due to windy weather, however it’s still amazing tour overall. Kimberly the tour guide from cheekykiwi is friendly and good driver. we wish there are more time on the stops along the way though.
Booked a small group tour to Mount Cook on Klook, and it was amazing! Shane, our guide, made the experience truly special. His knowledge and friendly demeanor added so much to the journey. Despite encountering road closures on our return to Queenstown due to extreme weather, Shane adeptly navigated multiple detours, ensuring the safety of all passengers. His handling of the situation showcased a high level of professionalism and commitment to ensuring a secure journey for everyone. Highly recommend this tour with Shane for a memorable trip to Mount Cook!
It was because I wanted to take this trip by helicopter! Helicopters are really fun to experience! I haven’t had so much salmon sashimi in a long time, it’s so fresh!
The local travel agency guide is very friendly. They stopped by restrooms, cafes, restaurants, etc. along the way. I thought I wouldn't be able to eat salmon since I was traveling on foot, but although it wasn't the salmon restaurant near Lake Pukaki, I stopped by a salmon restaurant next to another lake and had a delicious meal. I didn't know because it wasn't clearly stated on the details page, but it was a 50-minute flight. I think I had to wait for 1 hour and 30 minutes from the time I arrived to the ride to board. When I went there, I took a light plane, and at a midway landing, I switched with other helicopter guests and took a helicopter when I came back. It was a fun experience. The sunlight coming from the helicopter is strong, so apply a thick layer of sunscreen, and the snow on the snowy mountain is highly reflective, so you must bring sunglasses. I thought I would fly for 40 minutes out of 50 and land for about 10 minutes, but I flew for 15 minutes, landed for 20 minutes, and flew back for 15 minutes. Actually, the landing wasn't that interesting, so I personally thought that if I were to ride it again next time, it would be better and the price would be okay if I just went around the 30-minute course without the landing. Since I am a Korean who does not speak English, I was a little sad that the guide could not understand English.
Amazing trip! Water and refreshment were provided during the tour. The view is breathtaking. The tour guide Jonathan had done wonderful job.
Small group tour, well organized and coordinated by super friendly driver who made the trip very enjoyable.
