Northern Lights Bus Tour from Reykjavik

I had a wonderful experience with this travel agency on the Northern Lights tour. On my first tour, we were unfortunately unable to see the aurora, but the agency kindly offered me another try the next day at no extra cost. On the second tour, I was lucky enough to see a beautiful dancing aurora. The guide also explained the phenomenon clearly, which made the experience even more special. I truly appreciate their professionalism, honesty, and care for their customers. I highly recommend this agency to anyone hoping to see the Northern Lights.

Smooth pick up at bus stop within 30 minutes of designated slot. Nice ride to see the Northern lights at the bridge of continents at Sandvík. Didn't expect much due to the huge cloud cover and drizzling weather, but the weather finally cleared and the clouds made way to a beautiful starry night sky at 11pm. 30 mins standing in the cold at 2 degrees and still no sight of it. When the guide David rounded us up at 12am, the driver Marios spotted the sudden streak of green light with a shy tinge of red. Lucky to spot one on the first night in Iceland despite the weather!

We had Petra and Dean bring us around and I must say this was really fun! they changed the locations on the spot depending on the possibility of the aurora and the weather and we had a FANTASTIC sighting near Keflavik! the two of them are so spontaneous and kept us on our toes! I loved it!

After waiting three or four hours in the wilderness on the first trip and not seeing the aurora, the tour guide said that I could apply to their company's customer service for a free second viewing. So, I wrote an email and called the local travel agency's customer service. The customer service attitude and efficiency were very good, and they helped arrange the aurora tour on the date and time I requested on the same day. On the second trip, I waited for the aurora in the snowy field in minus two or three degrees Celsius. The tour guide was very professional and proactive, watching the app and observing places where the aurora could be seen. We changed three locations before and after, and finally saw a major aurora explosion after two and a half hours. I was so excited and felt so lucky. I must give this tour guide and Bus Travel Iceland a big thumbs up.

Fantastic experience overall! I went for the tour on 6 Nov but was unlucky with heavy clouds and didn’t manage to see the aurora despite our guide’s best efforts. A big shout out to our guide, Daniel, who was knowledgeable and engaging throughout the hunt, and took us to four different viewing spots, explaining the conditions and what to look out for. Due to the unsuccessful sighting, I was informed that I could join a rewatch the following night. This time the skies cleared and we got to witness a magnificent aurora display at Þingvellir despite the bright moon. Our guide for the 2nd night, Sharp was also friendly and professional. Thank you to the driver Eugene too for getting us to the locations safely. Highly recommend BusTravel for their excellent service—even when the weather doesn’t cooperate, they do everything they can to give you the best chance to see the northern lights.

The quality of Bustravel Iceland's tours is guaranteed. The tour leader, Miss Ivy, is quite young. She happened to be the tour leader of the Golden Circle one-day tour the day before. Her father happened to be the driver, Mr. Captain, on the same bus. That night, many buses went out to hunt the aurora. After waiting in the lighthouse for an hour, the wind was strong and the waves were high, but no aurora was seen. Ivy and her father distributed hot chocolate to the members and told them that singing could summon the goddess Aurora, so they encouraged the members to sing and play the guitar by themselves. Strangely enough, after singing two or three songs, the wind was still strong, but after hearing the cheers of the members, the goddess Aurora began to dance and was clearly visible to the naked eye. After spending an unforgettable hour of happy time, Ivy announced that they were on their way home.

Tour guide worked hard to find best spot for northern light. I could see very beautiful aurora although the time was quite late. It is such a unforgettable night.

The tour guide's explanation was professional, and they put a lot of effort into finding locations where the aurora borealis was likely to appear that evening, even though the moon was bright and there were clouds, conditions that aren't very conducive to seeing the aurora. In the end, we saw the aurora at all four stops the tour guide/driver chose, and there was even a small aurora explosion visible to the naked eye (usually small auroras are only visible with a camera, not to the naked eye). It's a trip worth experiencing. Iceland's weather is changeable, and especially with the wind, the perceived temperature is lower than the weather forecast. In the windy and cold environment, drinking the hot cocoa provided by the tour guide was a perfect combination!

Saw the lights on my first try but it was only faint so the female guide kindly gave us another try. And thank God for it! It was the best. So happy with the experience and Daniel the guide and the driver (Magic I think) were the best. They picked a great spot where we watched the show for hours. Would recommend this tour.
