Very cool and unique experience right in Reykjavik. The staff and our "Lava Master" guide from the UK were all amazing. So friendly, welcoming, informative and funny too! Experience was impressive overall; to be able to see how lava looks and behaves in a safe and well-controlled indoor setting was remarkable and done masterfully. The entire hour was filled with captivating content and this experience was definitely worth every penny! Note that it does get rather warm in the room, especially if you are not paying for the premium upstairs seating, so dress accordingly.
got the premium tickets and had free drinks in the lounge with access to backstage furnace, enjoyed the tour!
The entire Lava Veterinary Medicine is 50 minutes long. The first part is about introducing lava and watching a video about major volcanic events in Iceland. The second part is about the lava flowing out after the lava they obtained in the town of Vik was cooled and formed into crushed sand. The temperature of the lava reached 1100 degrees, and when it flowed out, the whole audience felt the heat of the lava. Being able to feel the power of lava in a safe environment is also a rare experience.
For any Geography enthusiasts, this is a must see! Enjoy this unique spot of seeing lava up close, because it is really warm!
The host was very humorous and introduced the changes of magma and the formation of Iceland's terrain in great detail. We didn't catch up with the first show at first, and the staff was very good and let us reschedule. However, if you want to come, your English listening skills must be very good (close to the native level) to understand the content of the explanation.
It was so cool to see real lava in an indoor building! I don't have to hike up to see real lava so this was just perfect for me.
The host was very lively and interesting, telling many jokes and Icelandic stories, and the explanation was clear. Being able to see the lava up close was magical and shocking. You can also see how the lava interacts with ice. I learned a lot of fun facts such as humans don't sink in lava, iron doesn't melt in lava, how to clean and recycle lava, etc. It's a very worthwhile experience. We also booked Perlan, and the experience was just as good, with ice caves, aurora performances, exhibitions...
The Lava Show staff were so passionate and the speaker was humorous! It was a good geography lesson on Iceland, Lava, and Volcanoes! Premium gets you a drink and a hardened lava after the show! Great for family and kids!
value for money! this is the closest you get to see lava, touched cooled lava in a safe & controlled environment. we came on the Oct 12th which is the exact date Kalta erupted in 1918. supposed to book the one in Vik but ended up booking the wrong one im Reykjavik. the staff after checking our booking allowed us to enter the show in Vik. very thankful indeed.
We were satisfied with our visit to this event. It was easy to book. The show itself was interesting. I recommend getting the regular rate, as you will be sitting closer to the lava and feel its heat. Maybe it's a bit pricey, but we were happy with it.
