Reviews
Book this tour! It’s worth it. Calauit Safari highlight was zebra and giraffe. Their truck was under maintenance so just walked around 300 meters, good thing Kuya Rico was prepared with umbrellas. Our tour guide, Kuya Rico, was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Lunch was superb, we had crabs. We left early to enjoy Black Island longer (around 2 hours). We decided not to explore the cave but it’s a good reason to come back.
Don't hesitate to book this tour from Calamian Islands Travel and Tour. It's worth it! They picked us up from the hotel on time. If you want to experience a safari in Coron, this is it. Make sure to bring water because we had to walk since Calauit Safari's tour truck was broken, and the weather was quite hot. But thankfully, our tour guides provided umbrellas. Black Island is beautiful; it has a cave, and the water at the beach is very clear. This tour is a great combination. The food served at Bernat's was also delicious.
Really great tour, they pick us up in TAG resort which is outside town with no addtl cost. Our Black Island tour was cancelled due to the weather but they change it to other beautiful island though. Tour guide are really approachable, hope to book with you again soon ☺️
It was a nice journey away from Coron. Just to go there it’s about an two ours drive. Feeding the Giraffes was a great experience. I felt sorry for the monkeys and other animals who were in small cages. After the little safari we went for Lunch to an other place. I guess we had typical Philippinen food. First time i tried crab, it tasted delicious but was hard to eat;) Last part we continued to the black island. Which I really enjoyed, especially there were not many people. Overall it was a nice long day.
Calauit Safari Park's facility badly needs improvement and support from the government. The driver even mentioned that whenever their truck breaks down or if there's a need for a replacement for a certain part, it usually takes at least 3 months before the mechanic from the province arrives. They also requested for an additional truck but to no avail. There's scarcity of food for the animals. He said that it's been more than 3 months that feeds were not delivered. They also requested a roof for the zebras whenever there's a downpour but still there's no action from the province. The animals are sensitive to rain and they are dying because of it yet a simple shelter for them is not given any priority.
Our Calauit Safari and Black Island tour was truly unforgettable! At Calauit Safari, we had an amazing time feeding the friendly giraffes—it was such a unique and fun experience. Then we headed to Black Island, which was absolutely stunning. We were the only ones there, so it felt like we had the entire island to ourselves. The peaceful atmosphere, crystal-clear waters, and beautiful scenery made it a perfect getaway. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Coron!
Unforgettable experience, indeed! Very convenient as there is a van that will pick you up at your hotel. It will be a long ride from Coron Town to Calauit, but the travel is worth it since the destinations are the best. Also, the boat going to the Black Island is around 1 hour and expect big waves during the travel. But no worries since the boat is safe to go that far. Black Island is underrated! Nice beach to stay, wish we could stay longer there. There is a cave in the island where you can visit as well. What could be improve is the lunch as it is limited. But overall, it's a nice experience and recommended.
the travel time is about 2 hours to go to the calauit safari qnd another 45 min to 1 hr to black island. the activity in calauit is fun and informative with a group of giraffe and zebra to see in their natural habitat. the giraffe feeding is the highlights of the tour. you can see, touch and feed them up close. just remember to wear appropriate clothing as the trip to the entrance from and to watching/feeding area and mini zoo is dusty and it will literally shower you on you ride back. the minizoo also showcase rescued animal especially monkeys, but beware, they are quite aggressive moreso towards women snd children. ensure that you keep a safe distance and any small item should be kept in your bags as monkeys may try to steal it from you. for those traveling w small kid, please make sure that you are closely monitoring them, as the animal may hurt them accidentally. the food were filling but not a buffet style. during our trip they offered us fish fillet, pakbet and, bittergourd and apply salad and chicken afritada plus a dessert if watermelon. the flavor is good but I felt that to some of our companion, the serving portion and selection is still lacking. However, I noticed that you can ask for refill ( but most of us are shy or unaware of this). the boat ride to the black island showcased a great scenery. the highlight for me is exploringvthe cave. it was well lit and ventilated. Although it is safe for swimming as the water is inly waist deep, it is still dark abd it will be quite unnerving doing it without companiin or guide. CR in the area is basic but the people their provide a drum of water per cubicle to use. beach is clear with white sand. great for snorkling and beach bumming. overall this joiner tour is really a value for money.
The destinations are quite far apart and will take more than an hour of travel each time. Highlight of the trip is the giraffe feeding but that’s really all you can do at the safari as there are not a lot of animals aside from the zebras and giraffes. Even so, in terms of service, they were on time on the pick up and the tour guides were very accommodating.
We were really happy. I thought the activities there were more than enough for the price we paid, and the places they took us to. It was really worth the price.Everyone on the staff and the guides took extra care of us. Everything was explained well. Thank you for everything.
