Reviews
The weather was cloudy and I was a little worried, but the schedule went as planned and our guide Barry passionately shared his knowledge with us. Cape Reinga, which New Zealanders regard as sacred, seemed to give us a little bit of an idea of why they regard it so. It was amazing, beautiful, and truly spectacular. Barry drove the 90 Mile Beach in a tour vehicle and guided us to the world of Dongsam for sandboarding on the dunes. This tour is a must-do in Paihia. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our guide Barry once again.
Unfortunately, the beginning was a little stressful. I never received a confirmation email/call to confirm my reservation and pick up time. Klook said I would receive a confirmation 24 hours prior, so I was worried that they were not tracking me for the tour. (I did try contacting Klook, I tried calling the company and emailing to no avail) Upon my initial booking I was scheduled for a 7 AM pick up, so without having any confirmation within 24 hours, I waited by my hotel at 7 AM. I did try calling the company, but kept getting voicemails. At 7:10 am another couple showed up and said they had been contacted and were told the pick up time was 7:20am At 7:30 we were still waiting and the other couple called the company which didn’t open until 7:30 AM! and they were told the bus was running late. So once the bus finally showed up, and that stress was relieved, it was a great tour. The bus was comfortable. The locations were absolutely stunning, but word of caution for those who may have mobility challenges, the lighthouse has quite a steep incline on the way up, and it’s a good distance walk. The driver provided a lot of wonderful and useful information about New Zealand, which was helpful. Only downfall was the driver made several comments that were quite abrupt with passengers.
It's not easy to get to the north of New Zealand, but if you go, you won't regret it. Sandboarding Ninety Mile Beach. The view from where you have lunch at Cape Reinga. It's perfect. Give yourself plenty of time. Be sure to go and see the scene where the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea meet.
Long day but worth it A LOT of commentary by the bus driver.
Don't want to take such a long-term car, it's enough to take a day trip. Booked through Klook, remember to contact early to arrange lunch
A good trip, worth trying.
it was good experience. The lunch could have been much better. Sunboarding could have been much better.
Bus driver was very friendly and his commentary was entertaining, really nice guy and made the long drive enjoyable with his knowledge. The drives are very long for what you actually see/do. Sand dunes were great 👍
We had a great time. Very well organised tour. Bus driver was very friendly, experienced and knowledgeable. We had a break at Ancient Kauri Kingdom. The giant kauri staircase at the shop and cafe was very impressive. The drive on 90 mile beach along the Tasman Sea was fabulous and the sandboarding down the massive sand dunes was fun. Breathtaking views at Cape Reinga and our lunch, fish and chips were excellent. A pleasent walk at Puketi Kauri forest to see some majestic kauri tree. Loved the whole experience. Highly recommended.
0212 encountered a typhoon, the itinerary was cancelled, and then postponed to 0214, the typhoon could not be lifted, and the departure was canceled again.
