Well organized and a A lot better than I anticipated. The first older temple you go to before you head up the mountain was worth the trip alone, but the main attraction was one of the best temples I’ve seen!
Pros: - patient, enthusiastic, informative, and hardworking tour guide - comfortable van with AC - timely pick up and drop off from our hotel - tour felt like the perfect length, not too long or short - 3 stops which are all so beautiful on their own - food is provided by the tour to offer to the monks Cons: - if you’re prone to motion sickness, take meds beforehand!
Trip was amazing. The guide Tom was very knowlegable, attentive and well spoken. We were greeted by the amazing views in and around the temples of Chiang Mai.
The feeling of night tour is really great! The first stop is to go to see the cave temple. The English-speaking tour guide introduced the history inside very seriously. He told us that it is a must-see for good photos, and all the questions raised were answered one by one👍. The second stop is Suthep Temple (Shuanglong Temple). The weather is a bit cold at night. Remember to bring a coat. The temple is built on the mountain. There are two ways to go up: (1) walk up to 306 steps (2) take the cable car at your own expense. The overall night view of Chiang Mai can be seen from a height, and even the square old city is clearly visible. The magnificent temple is really touching. The tour guide also said that going around the tower three times clockwise is the local way of praying!
The tour guide was very professional, sharing a lot of knowledge and history about Thai Buddhism.
We happened to be the only 2 persons on this tour. The guide helpful in explaining the various history of the temple and was also knowledgeable on the various insects and plants along our walk. The guide is also helpful in helping us take pictures, giving us a lovely memory of our trip.
If you are traveling alone, I highly recommend taking a tour🙇♂️ Because the round-trip Grab taxi fare from Old Town to Doi Suthep is similar to the tour price (if you are in a group, compare prices). The tour is conducted in a comfortable and spacious air-conditioned van. And the guide was friendly and told us a lot of stories. Above all, the guide had excellent photography skills📸 I was very satisfied with the service of taking pictures with great compositions at good points🫡 Thank you. Have a nice trip!
"If you don't go to Doi Suthep, don't say you've been to Chiang Mai." I followed my mother's words and went on a tour. FYI, it's a join-in tour, so there are many people, so we went together, but we were the only Koreans! I was satisfied because I didn't have to call a songthaew to go inconveniently because I was traveling in a large vehicle, and it was nice that they picked up and took me to the accommodation if there was an accommodation in the Old Town. It is said that the original meeting place is to meet at Thapaemun, so it would be good to refer to this part :) There is Wat Umong Temple on the way to Doi Suthep, so it is most convenient to go on a tour since Doi Suthep is quite high and far away. And if the daytime is pretty here, you must do a night tour. It was so dazzling and pretty when the lights came on.. It was so nice to be able to see the night view. If you need anything prepared, it would be nice to bring some cool bottled water. It takes about 10 minutes to go up the stairs in the picture. .
Pick up and drop off at hotel on time. Our team consists of four people. The trip went smoothly. The tour guide prepared supplies for the monks and filmed the process for us. He also has a wealth of knowledge about nature and will introduce different plants and animals along the way.
Pickup was on time and the whole tour was enjoyable. Since the tour was in the evening, there were only a handful of people and we practically had the place to ourselves. The weather was also cooler and a bit windy which was pleasant. First, we went to the Hmong cave temple which was interesting. I personally like the Doi Suthep temple, which we had to climb over 300 steps to get to. It was so calm and peaceful up there, moreover with the cool temperature. The view from the viewing point was amazing. Plus we got the chance to see the monks starting to chant. All in all, it was a nice experience
