Traditional Soju and Makgeolli Tasting in Seoul

Absolutely amazing. Joe was very welcoming and super knowledgeable. He made the experience instructive and fun at the same time. You can even buy some of the products you liked at the end of the tasting. Would 100% recommend to anyone :)

I learned so much from Joe about Korean alcohol! If you have even a slight interest in alcohol, I highly recommend taking this tasting course. There are also other courses, which I might try next time I visit South Korea! It was so much fun trying to guess which drink was which, and the explanations about the processes and differences between each type were fascinating. I never knew that soju had so many nuances, definitely an eye-opener! Thank you so much!

Very enlightening for the Korean Culture and how the process for creating and popularizing the drinks is done. I wish we had done this at the beginning of the trip to use as context. He shared with me a local Makgeolli maker so I could have more experiences when I return home. I would definitely recommend this experience!

This was one of the highlights of my trip to Korea! The small group setting made the experience feel personal, relaxed, and interactive. Our host, Kim Joe was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about Korean drinking culture. He was very knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights into the history, production, and traditions behind both soju and makgeolli. I learned so much while also getting to taste a great variety of drinks that I probably wouldn't have discovered on my own. There was no pressure, just a fun atmosphere where everyone could ask questions and enjoy the experience together. If you're looking for an authentic and informative introduction to traditional Korean alcohol, I couldn't recommend this experience more. A perfect mix of education, culture, and great company!

Was a great introduction to both Soju and Makgeolli. A terrific learning experience, and can't wait to get home and try to make it myself! Was a world apart from the drinks I tried from the convenience stores.

Everything about this experience was phenomenal. While trying the different drinks, I really appreciated the time Isaac spent explaining the varieties of rice wines as he had an incredible wealth of knowledge about this subject. This taste testing experience is well worth your time and money if you have a spare moment while in Seoul and want to try the different types of Korean style alcoholic beverages and have a great conversation simultaneously. Isaac provided well informed answers to all of my questions about the drinks. Also, the bar has whole bottles of Soju and Makgeoli for sale but also offers international shipping for those short on luggage space. Whether traveling solo or in a group, I assure you that it'll be great time learning from someone very dedicated to the craft of traditional soju and makgeoli distillation.

An absolute must do in Seoul! I believe culture can be understood through food and alcohol. This was a great glimpse into the history of drink in Korea. absolutely delicious products to taste. this was one of the highlights of my trip.

Joe was incredibly knowledgeable, patient with our questions, and open and willing to share both histories and the product! I’m currently pregnant and couldn’t partake in the drinking, but Joe was so kind to make me feel included in the challenges through smell and give me a yummy sweet rice beverage. According to my husband, the Makgeolli was phenomenal. We definitely will be back the next time we’re in Seoul so I can try it!

Not only did we enjoy the makgeolli, but it was so much better getting to know the owner and be given the brief history of makgeolli and how it's made. Thank for the experience and I hope to come back again.
