Incredible team, a pleasant lesson to follow, it was truly amazing!!! I recommend it.
We booked through Klook, and it became one of the highlights of our Osaka trip. The place was easy to find—we took an Uber with no issues. Our sensei was incredibly kind. We arrived about 30 minutes late due to hotel check-in problems, and he immediately reassured us it was fine. Even with less time, he still gave us the full experience: changing into samurai uniforms, learning stances, swings, sheathing, and even slicing bamboo. It was fun, immersive, and he spoke good English, encouraged photos, and was super friendly. He also recommended an amazing seafood spot after. If you’re in Osaka and want something unique and memorable, I highly recommend Samurai Honor!
instructor: very good description with translation with mobile phone for deaf read clear following instructions equipment: first time use samurai sword real experience: best ever done my dream love it.. thank u
very enjoyable for a bunch of teenage boys, they really wanted to slash things with a big knife. I was told it was a great experiences. love klook for making this experiences easy to purchase for friends and family traveling abroad. picture is not of the experience, I haven’t seen any from them yet
Starting with explanations of swords and samurai etiquette by a Kendo master, you'll gradually progress from using an unopened samurai sword, learning which hand to use to hold the sword and why, to practicing movements such as drawing, slashing, and sheathing the sword. Finally, you'll experience slashing with a sharp samurai sword, becoming a true swordsman.
Really enjoyed this class. The instructor is knowledgeable, skilled, and I thought he was funny too. This was my first time learning any kata and I made it through to several successful slices of the tatami mat.
Possibly the highlight of my trip to Japan. My son (16) and I were joined by 4 great guys from the US. We were dressed in do-gi and hakama before the instructor demonstrated our objective - to cut a tatami mat with a live blade. In pairs, we were each given an Iaito replica sword before he took us through a kata of iaido moves. Then we progressed to the tameshigiri where we each got to cut our own tatami mat with a shinken (and lots of photos taken). Our instructor was a superb swordsman. Thanks both to him and to our interpreter who was delightful. As with all the arts we experienced whilst in Japan, this felt very authentic and respectful. I’d highly recommend a visit. It was an amazing experience.
An amazing experience! Learn to strike, swing and sheath a real samurai sword, wearing traditional style robes. You finish your session by learning to cut your "enemy", a rolled tatami mat. Our sensei and assistant instructor were both kind and knowledgeable, offering some help, encouraging words and correction on difficult moves. They also took lots of photos of us, which they print and give as a gift at the end of the session! I would absolutely recommend this for families and small groups as the dojo is on the smaller size.
Best experience ever! Wonderful, patient and devoted teacher. You will have a little insight of the art of katana handling in a truly professional training. And the feeling as you accomplished to cut the target, it can’t be described how it feels. If you are in Osaka, don’t miss it.
Great intro class ! The instructor could not speak Japanese well but used Google Translate to explain anything we did not understand. Training was done with fake swords but the final cutting of tatami was done with a real katana/ sword
