Location: 1-1 Honmaru, Naka Ward, Nagoya, Aichi 460-0031, Japan

icon Intro: Nagoya Castle was built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1615 (Keichō 20). It was a famous castle, once designated as the first National Treasure among Japanese castle structures, featuring golden shachi (mythical fish-like statues), a large keep that boasted the largest total floor area in history, the lavish Honmaru Palace, and the function of a fortress with ironclad defenses. Even after being destroyed in the war, it was designated as a National Special Historic Site as one of the country's foremost castles, and the reconstructed Honmaru Palace and other elements vividly convey its appearance from its original era.
