Reviews
We had a brilliant time! Our host, Sungha Hong, did an amazing job explaining the processes of making natural dyes and guiding us in the indigo dying process! It was well paced and fun! We would totally recommended the experience! It was a good mid-day activity!
We had a wonderful time. At the beginning, the instructor very kindly explained the indigo dyeing process to us, using a mobile phone, as our Korean and English were both poor. Then, it was time to start! We tied the fabric, dipped it three times into the barrel of dye, squeezed it, and watched it gradually turn indigo as it was exposed to oxygen. It dried in about five minutes. Even though it was our first time, we were very satisfied with the finished product. Regarding directions, we arrived at the location using a map, but the entrance was a bit hard to find, so I'll leave a photo for reference. Please use it.
A perfect experience. it was fun, educational, and informative. A great mix of Korean culture and history, and a creative way to bring home something beautiful and meaningful that I made from Korean indigo. The host was warm, welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend
The teacher was so kind and thorough. I learned a lot about how indigo is made, and I had a lot of fun chatting with the instructor while dying my scarf.
The instructor was really nice and knowledgeable. He gives a great lecture on different kinds of natural dyes, specifically indigo. It’s very easy to engage conversations with him, and he has lots of knowledge and experience to explain about Korean culture and history. Loved it when he explained how to wash and maintain the scarf he taught me to dye.
It was very fun and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. They spoke English so it was easy for us to follow. The people I did the workshop with were really nice. I definitely recommend as a different experience you can have in Seoul
me and my friend both loved this class, instructor was also a good conversationalist, and gave us a great lunch recommendation. the process was fun and the products turned out great, both did the same thing but got very individual outcomes which we love. if you’re thinking about booking, I 100% recommend it.
This was a fun experience to add to my itinerary. We started with a simple introduction to the history and process of making indigo dye, and then made the scarf after. The instructor was kind and friendly and on the day that I went there were only 3 other customers so it felt pretty intimate. This place is located right by the Dongmyo flea market and one train stop away from Dongdaemun so it's a nice area to make a day trip.
It was very a fun and informative lesson. I got to know the origins and the long extensive process of how indigo came to be and is produced. My scarf came out beautifully! Thanks again for such a fun time!
It was a great experience! It includes an introduction to how they obtain the dye, which I really didn't know it was that long or complex. It adds value to the process. The workshop is very simple, safe and entertaining, for all ages 👍
