The tour was excellent, and our guide Letizia made all the difference. There is an overwhelming amount of art on display and she was able to distill the most important parts of the history in the time that we had. The group was small with 9 people which allowed for quality interaction between her and all the other participants as well. She was also very professional and respectful to all we interacted with, including those outside of our group. A tour at the Vatican does not come cheap, but the overall experience of a guide to put everything into context as well as making the time much smooth is well worth the premium over an individual booking.
When I saw the crowds of people queuing outside the door, I was glad to have bought skip-the-line tickets in advance! The museum building and exhibits are beautiful and worth a visit.
