Amazing Cu Chi Tunnels Experience 🇻🇳 We really appreciate our guide, Lee! From the moment we got into the van until we arrived at the Cu Chi Tunnels, he never stopped sharing stories and history about Vietnam. You can really tell how knowledgeable and passionate he is about what he does. He was also funny and engaging, so there was never a dull moment throughout the journey. His stories made the experience more interesting and helped us understand the history behind the Cu Chi Tunnels even better. Thank you, Lee, for making our tour informative, fun, and memorable! Highly recommended! ⭐️

It was such a fun and informative trip! Depending on the location of your hotel, you can also choose to be picked up directly from your hotel, which makes the experience even more convenient. We got to have a glimpse into the history and experience of the tunnels by actually going through them ourselves, which made the tour even more memorable. Our tour guide explained everything in great detail and shared so much interesting information. By the end of the trip, I felt like I had gained a lot of new knowledge and a deeper appreciation for the history of Vietnam. I would definitely recommend this experience to my friends and anyone visiting Vietnam. It’s definitely worth adding to your itinerary!

Commendations to Loan/Lara, our tour guide, for her clear and engaging explanation of Vietnam’s history—especially the story of the Cu Chi Tunnels. Despite the 1.5‑hour journey from Ho Chi Minh City, the experience was insightful and memorable.

We had a wonderful and memorable experience on our Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta tour! 🇻🇳✨The whole day was smooth, well-organized, and enjoyable. We learned a lot about Vietnam’s history and culture at the Cu Chi Tunnels, while the Mekong Delta gave us a relaxing and scenic experience. Our tour guide, Dat, was knowledgeable, friendly, and very accommodating. He shared interesting information throughout the tour and made sure we were comfortable along the way. We also appreciated the good communication and coordination, including contacting us on the day of the tour and accommodating our request to change the pick-up location when we changed hotels. Overall, we were very satisfied with the tour and the service we received. Thank you, Dat, and the whole team for making our experience memorable! ❤️ And thank you, for allowing us to post our group photo in this review. Càm on! 🫶🏻🇻🇳😎

The whole tour was very informative and it was nice to learn and know the gistory of Vietnam especially during the war. Our tour guide Milo was very active and helpful to each participants especuly during the later part of our trip when it was really raining hard. Also I want to mention our driver Mr. Lam, he was driving safely and I didn't feel any dizziness during the travel even if I'm seating at the back of the bus. Also I want to commend the SST travel for updating us before the tour, they were very polite and helpful. Overall it was a food experience and didn't regret that I booked this tour. 👍👍👍

This was a fantastic tour! It was a smooth ride to all of our stops and the timing was great thanks to Elbiee. Plus, we had plenty of time to explore / experience each stop, and Justin did a great job providing background during the drive and at each location. Ba Den and the Cao Dai temple are beautiful, and the Cu Chi tunnels are humbling. We missed the rain all day except at the Cu Chi tunnels, so that was a rough experience, but absolutely still worth it!

I had such a great experience on the Cu Chi Tunnels & Mekong Delta tour! 🇻🇳 It was a long day, but definitely worth it. Visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels was fascinating and gave me a much better understanding of the history and how people lived during the war. The Mekong Delta was another highlight, seeing the local way of life, taking the boat rides, and trying some of the local products made the experience even more memorable. A special thank you to our tour guide, Michael, who was incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful throughout the entire trip. He explained everything clearly, made sure everyone was comfortable, and kept the atmosphere fun and enjoyable. Overall, it was a well-organised and memorable day. I would definitely recommend this tour, especially if you’re visiting Ho Chi Minh City and want to experience both the history and local culture of Vietnam. 🇻🇳✨

More than just a tour, it was a powerful journey through history. Seeing firsthand how people lived, survived, and persevered during the war was both eye-opening and deeply humbling. Chow’s exceptional storytelling brought the past to life, turning every stop into a meaningful and memorable experience. His passion, knowledge, and engaging way of sharing history kept us captivated throughout. We left with a deeper understanding of the past, a profound respect for those who endured it, and an even greater appreciation for the resilience and strength of the Vietnamese people. This is a must activity when you visit Ho Chih Minh.

What to know about Cu Chi Tunnel

Explore Cu Chi Tunnels, an intricate network of underground tunnels steeped in history, which played a vital role in the Vietnam War. Serving as a base for the Viet Cong troops, these tunnels span over 250 kilometers (155 miles) and include hidden entrances, living quarters, hospitals and storage facilities. Situated in Cu Chi District, northwest of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, the Cu Chi Tunnels were built in the late 1940s during the first Indochina war against the French colonialists, and expanded during the Vietnam War. They were designed with hidden trapdoors, ventilation holes disguised as termite mounds and booby traps to evade enemy troop presence. They were also used as communication and supply routes for launching surprise attacks against enemy forces. Today, the Cu Chi Tunnels are a popular historical site, where visitors can crawl through sections of the tunnels and gain a deeper understanding of the region's tumultuous past.

Top Highlights To Discover At Cu Chi Tunnel

The Cu Chi Tunnels in Cu Chi District offer a glimpse into Vietnam's wartime history. There are maps of the Cu Chi Tunnels available to help guide you through the complex maze. You will discover entire underground villages that housed not only soldiers but also families who lived and worked underground to evade detection by American soldiers.

You can participate in the Tunnel Crawl Experience, where you navigate through sections of the tunnels to understand the cramped conditions that soldiers faced during the war. The tunnels are preserved as a war memorial park, featuring two display sites: Ben Dinh and Ben Duoc. Here, you can explore underground conference rooms, learn about the various types of booby traps employed during the conflict, and appreciate the resilience and tactics of the Viet Cong.

Hidden Tunnel Entrances and Booby Traps

The Cu Chi Tunnels include cleverly disguised tunnel entrances that allowed Viet Cong soldiers to move discreetly and evade American soldiers.

As you go deeper into the tunnels, you'll see demonstrations of various booby traps set by the Viet Cong to protect their territory. You will also find "breathing mounds", which were small mounds of dirt that allowed air circulation while keeping the tunnel entrances concealed.

Documentary Display Rooms

If you want to delve deeper into the history of Cu Chi Tunnels, visit the documentary rooms located on site. These documentaries highlight the historical significance of the Cu Chi Tunnels, give insights into the daily lives of the Viet Cong soldiers and the strategies employed in the Iron Triangle, a vital area encompassing the tunnel system.

The documentary presentations also feature stories from tunnel rats, the soldiers tasked with navigating the tunnel system to gather intelligence and eliminate threats.

Live Firing Range

Cu Chi Tunnels offers a live firing range where you can try your hand at shooting authentic weapons used during the Vietnam War. As you fire rounds from firearms, you will be reminded of the intensity and chaos faced by Vietnamese soldiers and American troops on the battlefield.

150-meter dash through the tunnels

At Cu Chi Tunnels, you will have the chance to participate in a 150-meter dash through the tunnels. This interactive experience allows you to crawl through a section of the tunnel system, providing a firsthand understanding of the cramped and dark conditions that Viet Cong soldiers endured.

B-52 Bomb Craters

The B-52 bomb craters near the Cu Chi Tunnels serve as a stark reminder of the intense bombing campaigns that targeted this region during the Vietnam War. These massive craters were created by American bombers and illustrate the devastation wrought upon the landscape and its people.

Ben Duoc Memorial Temple

The Ben Duoc Memorial Temple honors the bravery of the Viet Cong soldiers who fought during the Vietnam War. This temple serves as a place of remembrance and reflection, allowing visitors to pay their respects to those who sacrificed their lives for their country.

There are beautiful gardens and memorials surrounding the temple that are dedicated to various units and individuals who played crucial roles in the struggle for independence. The architecture and design of the temple reflect traditional Vietnamese styles, creating a serene atmosphere.

Handicapped Handicrafts

Visit the Handicapped Handicrafts workshop nearby that supports war victims, many of whom are affected by the lingering effects of Agent Orange (a chemical herbicide used by US military in the Vietnam war). The workshop provides employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, allowing them to create beautiful traditional Vietnamese lacquerware and handicrafts.

Tips For Visiting Cu Chi Tunnels

Wear comfortable clothing

Dress in light, breathable clothing and sturdy shoes because you will be crawling through narrow tunnels and walking on uneven terrain.

Bring a mosquito spray

Mosquitoes are prevalent in the area, so remember to apply insect repellent to keep mosquitoes at bay.

Stay Hydrated

Carry plenty of water to stay hydrated, especially during the warmer months.

Avoid visiting during the rainy season

If possible, plan your visit during the dry season from December to April to avoid heavy rains that can make the terrain muddy and slippery.

Respect the site

Remember that the Cu Chi Tunnels are a significant historical site, so it's essential to be respectful of the area and its artifacts. Following the guidelines provided by the staff helps preserve this important landmark for future visitors.
