【Itinerary】 ・9:00am: meet English speaking assistant to receive the tickets for the tour ・9:30am: enjoy Gion Summer Festival from spectator seat (180-min) ・1:00pm: Lunch Buffet of Kyoto’s home-cooking ‘obanzai’ (60-min) ・2:00pm: transfer to Arashiyama by streetcar from Shijo-Omiya station ・3:00pm: Stroll at Arashiyama (120-min) ・5:00pm: end of the tour

【Information on spectator seating at the Gion Summer Festival】 ・Crowding is expected on the day of the festival. Please arrive with plenty of time to spare or you may not make it to the event in time. (Please note that no refunds will be made.) ・Using parasols and umbrellas and smoking are not permitted. When taking photographs, please do not disturb other visitors. Please take care of your physical condition by bringing a hat and drinking plenty of water. ・The festival will take place even if it rains. Umbrellas are not available as they are a nuisance to those around you. Please use a raincoat.

What to expect

■About the Gion Festival The Gion Festival is one of the three major festivals in Japan. It is held from 1 to 31 July at Yasaka Shrine to enshrine the spirits of the gods and ancestors. The highlight of the festival is the Mikoshi and Yamaboko procession on 17 and 24 July. The Yamaboko event is listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Site. On this tour, you will observe the Mikoshi and Yamaboko procession from a paid spectator seat.

■About Arashiyama The tour will take you from Kyoto City to Arashiyama by streetcar. See Arashiyama’s bamboo groves, Togetsu Bridge and numerous temples. Enjoy a stroll with a gourmet coupon in hand.
