Half-day tour of Shaanxi History Museum (can be combined with featured performances)

Excellent tour by Grace and appreciate getting the tickets for the museum which are hard to get. Grace provided a huge amount of detailed information and history from the Shanxi Dynasties. We managed to see multiple ancient relics! Highly reccomended !

The Shaanxi Museum Guide Ms Nana was very knowledgeable and explained the exhibit at Hall 4, 6 and 7 in details to us. The whole tour took abt 3hrs. For the camel bell show, we enjoyed it very much and the driver pick us up and drop us off at the hotel. Both segments were planned well and the agent contacted me one day in advance via WA with the details. Highly recommended.

At the Shaanxi History Museum, I was overwhelmed by the vast grounds and the approximately 370,000 precious cultural relics. In particular, the exhibits from the Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties, which tell the story of ancient China's prosperity, evoked a feeling of having traveled back in time, and I could feel the profound depth of Chinese history firsthand. As of January 20, 2026, the time in Xi'an is just past 6 p.m., so you will probably be able to experience a different atmosphere at night.

When entering, please have your order ready to show for admission, and security will let you through. Then, scan your ID. The collection is very rich, and although there are many people, the professional tour guides provide detailed explanations. It's definitely worth a visit!

We had an incredible experience with our guide Grace! She made the history of the Qin, Han, Tang, and Ming dynasties come alive, at times connecting the past to science and technology in a visual way with her iPad. We especially loved her deep dives into Chinese etymology; learning the origins of idioms and common phrases “visiting restroom” or “to imagine - dreaming of elephants” gave us a newfound respect for the language. Grace is so passionate that our 2.5-hour tour turned into a 4-hour masterclass. Thank you, Grace, for such a memorable walk through history. Your passion and clear, eloquent English made every moment of the tour a joy!

Our guide Zhu Yehua was very responsible. She texted us a day before the tour and gave clear directions and instructions for what to expect. She is very knowledgeable, shared passionately and went beyond what is expected of her. We thoroughly enjoyed the close to 3 hours of learning journey with her. As it is not easy to get a booking for the popular Shannxi Museum, this guided tour made the visit possible and seamless.

After experiencing the massive scale of the Terracotta Army, a visit to the Shaanxi History Museum is the perfect follow-up to see the finer details of Chinese history. While the Terracotta Army site focuses on the grandeur of the Qin Dynasty, the museum provides a broader, chronological narrative from prehistoric times through the golden age of the Tang Dynasty. Unlike the distant views at the pits, the museum allows you to see select Terracotta Warrior specimens and intricate artifacts up close and hear the stories behind them from the guide

The itinerary does not include transportation. A Taiwan Compatriot Travel Permit is required for entry. The meeting point for the guided tour is in the corridor outside the women's restroom after entry. The guide's explanation was very detailed, but many of the national treasures on display are replicas. However, for educational purposes, the overall experience is still acceptable.
