Every year from June to late October, the lower to upper slopes are decorated with over 300 species and approximately 2 million alpine plants.

One of Japan's leading alpine botanical gardens, spread across Hakuba Goryu Alps Plain at an altitude of 1,515m. From June to October, you can encounter a wide variety of alpine plants, more than 300 species and 2 million plants. Take the 8-seater gondola "Telecabin" and enjoy an 8-minute aerial stroll to the top of the mountain. From the terrace seats of the mountaintop restaurant, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Northern Alps, including Mt. Goryu.

Explore the trekking course Hakuba Goryu is the entrance to the climbing route of Mt. Goryu, one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan. Along the way, there are courses where even beginners can enjoy nature and mountain walking, such as the “Kotomiyama Trekking” which takes about 90 minutes one way, the “Mikaeri-zaka Trekking” which takes about 20 minutes one way and also offers a view, and the easier “Alps-daira Nature Trail Trekking”.

Goryu Escal Plaza The base center at the foot of the Hakuba Goryu Alpine Botanical Garden offers a variety of entertainment. There are many shops to choose from depending on your mood, such as a gallery displaying mountain photographs and botanical paintings, a souvenir shop, the soba and galette restaurant “Midori no Shokutaku”, a vegan cafe, and hot springs. You can also enjoy a “soba-making experience” with a soba master at Escal Plaza.
