Would have been a great train ride but we were delayed five hours because of a fire in a signal house. Staff were very good-they kept us updated, and handed out water and food supplies.

Booking easy, as is picking up the tickets. using QR code. Not a lot of room on the Thunderbird train for larget bags, recommend a luggage forwarding service like Black Cat, we put a larger suitcases behind the last row of seats in our carriage. Otherwise train is fine if not the fastest in Japan.
