Louvre Museum

The Louvre Museum (Musée du Louvre) in Paris is one of the world’s most renowned cultural institutions, attracting art lovers globally. Originally a fortress built by Philip II, the present Louvre Palace became a public museum after the French Revolution, housing an extensive collection of paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts. It features works seized from the royal collection, confiscated church property, and acquisitions from the French Empire. Visitors enter through the main entrance, marked by the glass pyramid, leading to the underground lobby and eight curatorial departments, including Egyptian antiquities, Near Eastern antiquities, Islamic art, and Greek, Etruscan, and Roman antiquities. The Louvre’s collection features masterworks such as Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, and the Winged Victory of Samothrace, displayed in the Grande Galerie and Musée Napoléon. The museum’s history spans from its origins as a fortress to its transformation during the French Revolution and its role in the Second French Empire. While the Louvre’s influence extends globally, including the creation of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, it is often compared to the Musée d’Orsay, which focuses on 19th- and early 20th-century art. With deep ties to France’s history, from Louis XIV to Louis XVIII, the Louvre primarily serves as a bridge between diverse cultures and artistic eras. A escorted tour through its exhibition spaces and Cour Carrée offers an unparalleled journey through ancient civilizations and nation’s masterpieces, making it a must-visit museum.

BEST EUROPE EXPERIENCE EVER. It was the worthiest experience from all 8 countries we have been. The Paris photoshoot. Great value for money and would definitely do it again if I visit Paris again. Shout out to our Filipino photographer sir Joey T. He did not only made our photo magical, he taught us the right choreography on our poses. He will guide you in every pose. I am a creative and expert in photography but being the subject is different. Highly recommended to this when in Paris. Look for Joey to be assigned to you

I couldn't have picked a better spot than Orsay to wrap up my birthday money trip! After traveling and celebrating, this was the absolute "cherry on top" experience I was looking for. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was sophisticated yet incredibly welcoming. It felt like a true celebration. I’ll definitely be back—hopefully before my next birthday! This was easy to use.

We visited Monet’s house and gardens in Giverny a few days before coming to the museum, and it completely changed the experience for us. Being able to connect the scenery and atmosphere from Giverny to Monet’s paintings made the masterpieces feel even more extraordinary. Absolutely in awe. We were also very lucky to catch the special exhibition on Henri Rousseau — truly the cherry on top. One thing to note: Klook tickets only let you choose the date, not a specific entry time, so be prepared for an average wait of around 30–60 minutes outside.

I was so satisfied with the 4-day Museum Pass, allowing me to explore at my leisure! The thrill of entering with the pass without waiting in line! It was really convenient for me, as a 'P' (perceiver), to visit places not originally in my plan. I visited the Louvre (one-time entry only, reservation via official website), Orsay Museum (reservation via official website), Les Invalides (walk-in, Napoleon's tomb, surprisingly a lot to see), Pantheon (walk-in, has Foucault's Pendulum), Rodin Museum (walk-in, features Rodin's works plus Impressionist pieces), and Sainte-Chapelle + Conciergerie (can be booked as a set on the official website, small so you can see it quickly).

What to know before visiting Paris

Quick snapshot of Paris and what draws travellers

Paris is a destination driven by museum visits, river cruises, guided tours and skyline viewpoints, with bookings showing a clear yearly rhythm. Demand builds to a pronounced peak in June and eases off into March, so the city alternates between busy high-season moments and much quieter spells.

Best time to visit for crowds and prices

Klook booking data shows June is the busiest month while March sees the lightest demand. Prices on Klook tend to rise toward the northern winter and early-year peak—January is typically the priciest month—while November is usually the most budget-friendly month for activities. If you want lower prices and smaller crowds, consider visiting in November or March; for the full peak-season atmosphere aim for June, when demand is highest and some activities are more in demand.

Tips for travellers from Malaysia

Most travellers from Malaysia typically book about ten days ahead, with many decisions still possible at short notice—last-minute options exist around a day out. If you’re travelling in peak months like June, plan and lock in museum entries, cruises and popular tours a few weeks ahead to avoid disappointment; for off-peak visits you can be more flexible and pick up cheaper activity options on shorter notice. Booking through Klook lets you compare timings and secure tickets in advance when you need them.
