I took a one-day bamboo painting class! It was one of the best experiences I had in Hong Kong! The space was so warm and beautiful! It was so much fun to paint with brushes and ink! The teacher also explained the characteristics of Chinese painting well, which was very informative! I highly recommend it for a time to calm your mind and get away from the dazzling noise of the city! (Warm Chinese tea is also provided! 🍵 You can enjoy it even if you go alone! 🤗)
Highly recommend! It was my first time learning Chinese painting and the teacher taught very well with much patience. The studio was lovely with very nice vibe and cosy set up, they even served Chinese tea during class. lt was very fun as an introductory class and I enjoyed doing Chinese painting a lot. Definitely coming back!
This class was so much fun! Carole was a great teacher and created a welcoming environment for us to learn how to paint. I would definitely recommend this class to those who are interested in traditional Chinese painting.
It was a great experience learning about calligraphy painting. The 2hrs flew by and I have developed a greater appreciation and understanding of chinese calligraphy painting. Carole was patient and super helpful in teaching us the different elements that would lead to us completing a bamboo painting. I would highly recommend this one-off class if you're passing by HK. I am very jealous of those that are able to attend her regular glasses.
Great workshop! There's only so much you can really expect from a crash course on something like chinese calligraphy and ink painting with hundreds of years of history, but the instructor went beyond what I expected! The short presentation on the history and style of chinese calligraphy & ink painting was well prepared, interesting, and instructive. I thought it was especially fitting that she added a brief overview of the differences from western style art. Loved it! And the piece we made together (with the instructor's demonstration and guidance) was both moderately challenging and fun, despite having little to no experience in art (if you count the art class I took in HS about a decade ago). I left the workshop feeling inspired to learn and practice more.
Very good and comfortable experience, the teacher taught me very patiently, and I feel good about painting bamboo leaves for the first time.
The tutor is attentive and patient, the explanation is clear, focused and interesting, the equipment is complete, the service is thoughtful, timely encouragement and assistance, very heart-warming, if the class can be extended, it will be better😃
Really nice. The teacher explained well the history of Chinese painting, and we enjoyed our time there. It's more complicated than it looks like, but thanks to the teacher's help, we were able to produce a "Master piece". :)
A great experience to have learnt the Chinese Painting style and history, then completed my own bamboo Chinese Ink Painting in the class. The place is comfortable, served with tea and coffee, though a bit difficult to find.
Carole starts the workshop with a great introduction about the history of Chinese painting. She explains the differences between Western and Chinese art, the types of rice paper, ink, colours and brushes. It was really informative and interesting. She gives a clear step-by-step demonstration. First, you get time to practice on A4 paper. Then, you try out three different types of rice paper. At the end, you work on your final piece using a full sheet of rice paper. Carole guides you through every step. And last but not least, you finish your artwork by stamping it with a traditional Chinese seal. Carole speaks fluent Cantonese and English. Her voice is so pleasant to listen and she explains everything with a lot patience. I highly recommend this workshop!
