Review for: Hanoi Food Tour: Salt Coffee, Tram Museum & Tran Quoc Pagoda

We enjoyed an amazing experience with Alex. He was very knowledgeable and provided valuable insights into the area, and its social history through the beautifully decorated and displayed trams which had themes based on the food of the area. The village scene was especially moving and was easy to relate too. We left feeling so much more knowledgeable about this part of Viet Nam.

I highly recommend booking this tour. Alex the tour coordinator and guide Minh Khue were ver accommodating. For a first timer in Vietnam Khue made us experience Hanoi culture and heritage and taste their famous dishes in their train bus museum. A must try tour package from Klook. Thank you!

Minh is a passionate and friendly tour guide! She is attentive and provides detailed introductions to the culture of Vietnam and Hanoi. She treated me like a friend, which made me very happy! On this tour, you'll get to taste several unique Vietnamese dishes, all cooked by local aunties! They are truly delicious. The decor and exhibits at the Tram Museum are also beautiful, perfect for taking great photos. I highly recommend everyone take this tour on their first day in Hanoi to get acquainted with Hanoi's food, coffee, and tea!

I highly, highly recommend this small group tour. Along the shores of West Lake, there are many tram-themed establishments offering Hanoi cuisine, tea, coffee, and more. This tour is the only way to get a glimpse inside them. In the middle of the tour, you'll also visit a small museum with vintage scenes, featuring authentic settings and items from daily life in the past. The guide was very knowledgeable about Hanoi, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This was a highly recommended experience. Our guide, Ms. Thu, gave an incredibly detailed introduction to Vietnamese culture — from pho, coffee, tea drinking culture, and rice cultivation to the daily lives of Vietnamese people during the war period. Special thanks as well to Jessie for the translation support. The entire tour was filled with great food, drinks, and even a handmade souvenir activity. You can truly feel the passion and effort put into promoting Vietnamese culture. I honestly think this is a very underrated experience, and I highly recommend anyone visiting Hanoi to give it a try.

This tour is truly a unique, meaningful, and culturally enriching experience. The Mini Tram Museum combined with the Subsidy Era (Bao Cap period) storytelling offers a deep and authentic insight into Hanoi’s history and the everyday life of Vietnamese people during a challenging but resilient time. Luka is our great guide, he explained about the Subsidy Era is clear, engaging, and emotionally touching, making it easy for me to understand Vietnam’s social, economic, and historical context. Highly recommend.

This was a really fun walking tour with great food along the way. Visiting a hidden room was a cool surprise and made the experience feel special. The walk was very fun and much less crowded than Hoan Kiem Lake, so it felt relaxed and easy. Definitely a fun experience and a great way to see a different side of Hanoi.

The history part inside the trams was very interesting, plus making the spring rolls and eating the Pho was very unique. The view was great and guide was knowledgeable too

Such a fun and unique way to experience Hanoi. It’s one of those things I would’ve never found on my own if it wasn’t for this tour. The old tram cars are turned into small themed spaces about food, lifestyle, coffee culutral and so many things else. They even offer me food with yummy Pho and salt coffee which I made it myself. It all feels really interactive and easy to enjoy if you want something different and a bit off the usual tourist path, this one’s definitely worth it!!

More about Hanoi Food Tour: Salt Coffee, Tram Museum & Tran Quoc Pagoda

Discover Hanoi on a unique food tour inside vintage tram cars, tasting authentic Subsidy-Era dishes and classic flavors. Enjoy hands-on experiences while visiting iconic sites and a lively market.

This is more than a food tour - it’s a journey into how Hanoians ate, lived, and survived during the Subsidy Era (1976-1986), one of the most defining yet rarely experienced periods in Vietnam’s history.

At a time when ingredients were scarce and meals were built around ration coupons, Hanoians learned to cook with creativity, restraint, and care. From simple bowls of phở to shared family meals and humble snacks, food became a reflection of resilience and community. This tour invites you to taste that story - not in a restaurant, but inside vintage tram cars transformed into living mini-museums.
