What to expect
This is an exclusive guided tour led by a dedicated guide, taking travelers to understand the history, culture, and terrain of the Aso region. You will also visit the TAO no Oka outdoor theater in the Aso-Kuju National Park, to experience an artistic feast that combines nature and traditional Japanese culture.
First, we will head to the summit of Mount Aso to observe the crater up close and feel the pulse of the earth, creating an unforgettable experience. Next, we will visit Aso Shrine, which has a history of over 2,000 years, and then stroll to the nostalgic Monzen-machi (temple town) to sample the spring water from various storefront water fountains and explore the local cuisine of Aso.
In the afternoon, we will go to TAO no Oka. This outdoor theater is the exclusive performance stage for the world-renowned taiko group DRUM TAO. With the magnificent Aso Five Peaks as a backdrop, the performance combines traditional Japanese taiko drums, modern music, and dance to showcase a powerful and rhythmic outdoor show.
Finally, we will head to Daikanbo to overlook the world's largest caldera and admire the magnificent scenery of volcanoes and people living together. You can visit the Grassland Learning Center to learn about the local wisdom of maintaining the grassland ecosystem through burning, or choose to visit ASO MILK FACTORY to enjoy ice cream and desserts made with Aso milk, and leisurely enjoy the local flavors.

-A minimum of two people are required for the tour to proceed. If you wish to book the tour with fewer than two people, you will be charged for two people. -In the event of rain or severe weather, the DRUM TAO performance will be moved to an indoor venue. -Volcanic gas is generated at the Mt. Naka-dake crater of Mt. Aso. Those with asthma/respiratory or heart conditions, or those who are feeling unwell, will not be able to visit the crater. -The Naka-dake crater may be closed due to weather conditions such as wind direction. If the crater is closed, the tour will be changed to a panoramic view of Mt. Naka-dake volcano from Aso Volcano Smoke Observation Park.
