Traveler reviews
It was a great experience for me, seeing such a variety of animals at close range that looks well-taken care of. Getting to/from the zoo via ferry was a breeze and entry to the zoo was equally hassle-free. Highly recommended even if you're solo and just looking for a chill place to explore in Sydney.
Hassel-free process to get the ticket with QR code at Wharf 6, Circular Quay (first ferry on the weekend departs at 9:15am and there may be a queue, so be there 15 mins earlier). Ferry ride was fast (under 15 mins) with great views of the Opera House and Harbor Bridge. The zoo is very big with a good variety of local and international animals. The seal show and bird show are brilliant - their time slots are shown on the phamplet you will get at the zoo entrance and the zoo’s app. There are keeper talks for various animals throughout the day too, and it was nice to catch some of those, but in general the zoo is quite easy to walk around at your own pace.
Taronga zoo is very big, it has many types of animals and species. You can spend a whole day there since there are different shows available throughout the day. Ticket redemption is very convenient, just head down to circular quay wharf no.6, go to captain cook office which opens around 8:50am and the officer your mobile voucher. They will hand you 2 tickets, one for the captain cook cruise and one for the zoo. You have to keep the ferry ticket for the return trip. The ferry leaves on time, so better to be there before 9am (provided there isn’t a change in schedule). The zoo opens at 9:30am and the ferry ride is about 10 minutes so you can spend about 15 minutes around the zoo entrance vicinity before it opens. I’d say you won’t regret this trip.
Although the ferry ride is only ten minutes, the scenery along the way is really what internet celebrities check in photos 🤣. I couldn’t sit down and wanted to take pictures desperately. The wind is very strong, so remember not to wear a hat, and then take out your mobile phone camera and press the shutter like crazy! The zoo is just the right size to be visited in half a day, but it was a pity that there was no bird show on 2/19. I hope that in the future I can check online for performances that were suspended on that day. The sea lion show was super cute! Very impressive! The animals are very leisurely, completely Australian style, but you have to be careful with sun protection in hot weather. The biggest selling point is the magnificent and beautiful background of Sydney Harbour! There is a beach nearby but unfortunately I don't have time to go there for a walk. I suggest you go up and take the bus until the end and walk directly to the pier without looking back.
Voucher was easy to redeem. Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine. Better line up at least 30mins prior your estimated time of departure from the Quay. Check on the ferry's schedule online. You'll get great views of Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Zoo is fun to explore as well. Aside from the usual ones, you'll see Australia's Emu, Kangaroos and Koalas. Wish we had more time for the activities there.
Fuss free redemption of tickets at Wharf 6 of circular quay. Ferry arrived and left on time. Plenty to see at Taronga Zoo. Enclosures were well maintained and clean. Really lucky to have spotted a baby Koala. Food options are limited and pricey so a tip will be to bring your own food. We took the first ferry there and last ferry back. The ZoO is huge so do wear comfortable shoes and attire!
Very convenient and affordable combination, recommended! ⭐️Usage process* Because this is a private shipping company, there are not many sailings. Be sure to check the schedule first to avoid waiting for a long time* The shipping company is Captain Cook Cruise 🚢. The ticket collection counter is at Circular Quay 6 Pier 6 , it is recommended to come and collect your tickets 30 minutes in advance. You will get tickets to the zoo at the same time here * Because it is a private boat, there are not many passengers on the boat. It is recommended to sit on the upper floor to enjoy the beautiful view of the Opera House and the harbor ~ * After the boat docks at Taronga Zoo Station Get off the boat immediately, because the boat will continue to go down, so there will be many passengers staying on the boat* After arriving at the zoo station, you can go directly to the low gate on the right, instead of running to the main entrance* The boats are very punctual, The boat will leave as soon as the time is up. It is recommended to arrive at the boarding port 5 to 10 minutes early, especially for return flights.
Very nice experience! you get to take nice pictures with the Sydney Opera House and ride a ferry. The zoo is also a fun experience wide wide range of animals to see like koala, kangaroos, red panda, elephants, penguins, and sea lions. Definitely a must try when you visit Sydney 💯
