What to expect

Learn to make traditional Japanese sweets by hand. Wagashi, or Japanese confectionery sweets, are loved for their subtle flavors. They are mainly made from rice and plant products and are both gluten-free and vegetarian. People in Japan tend to enjoy wagashi most when paired with a cup of green tea, usually at traditional tea ceremonies. This hands-on experience will teach you the detailed process of making these sweet treats from scratch. Enjoy a bit of the history and culture associated with these delicious snacks as told by the experts as you make two wagashi of your choice. Finally, taste your dessert alongside some green tea during an authentic Japanese tea ceremony.

Review for: 2.5-Hours Traditional Sweets Making Class

This mochi and nerikiri experience was phenomenal. I learned about the history around these Japanese sweets, their cultural significance and how their flavor profile changes depending on the season. Also, I was shown how to properly whisk matcha leaves into a tea and drink it with the proper technique. All the while we had great meaningful conversations and could enjoy eating the sweets at the end. I'd highly recommend this activity to all.

Review for: 2.5-Hours Traditional Sweets Making Class

It was an informative and fun-packed class! The instructions were easy to follow, and we were all happy with the results. Initially, I thought it was a bit pricey, but considering I was just here once and have a good time without needing to use Google Translate, it was definitely worth it :)
