What to expect
It's a fair statement to say that sumo wrestling must be one of the world's most unique national sports. Sumo originated in Japan as early as the 1600s and Japan remains the only country where this heavyweight sport is practiced professionally. Fighters live in communal 'stables' where every aspect of their daily lives is dictated by strict tradition. These traditions, etiquette and customs are not taken lightly. Many sumo stables are not open to foreign visitors and for those that are, even spectactors are expected to adhere to certain rules. Meet up with your tour group outside the designated meet up point in Tokyo before you visit to the stables and watch the wrestlers practice the art of sumo. Make sure not to eat, talk loudly, or take photos with bright flashes or loud noises so you don't distract the wrestlers!

Reviews
A really interesting experience to see up close. You’ll spend around an hour in the stables watching the wrestlers warm up, go through their paces, have a few training bouts and warm down. You’ll get a chance to have a photo with the sumo wrestlers at the end as well. A really great experience, albeit for a solo traveller a little expensive for one although the cost per person reduces when multiple tickets are booked. If you can find a partner or more to attend with this will bring the cost down. All up, a great experience!
We did enjoy the show...the sumo were very friendly and approachable. Slightly crowded when we visited the place as couple of groups tour were there as well. If the crew can provide some history of the sumo then will make the trip more informative!
Once a lifetime experience. Our family are awe by the practice of Sumo wrestler and understand better the culture of Sumo. The price is steep for an hour experience but it's totally worth it. Highly recommended!
For the first time, I saw how enthusiastic the boxers were training. This year I tried to participate in one more experience of watching Sumo fight in the ring and having lunch.
A good experience to see the Sumo practice in such a manner. I like that it is more like their usual practice routine and not a food and show performance. A bit expensive though. Still a good experience.
It was truly impressive to be able to see the sumo wrestlers training up close. Everything was perfectly organized via email, and at the end, you could even take a photo with two sumo wrestlers. Even though we had to get up very early to be there by 8:00 AM using the train/subway, it wasn't a problem thanks to the perfectly punctual public transportation.
Great experience! Probably the best of our stay! The training lasted 2h30 and we had the opportunity to have a photo with some sumos. The only downside was that there were a lot of us so the visibility wasn't always great. If you manage to be in the front row, you will have no problem, unfortunately that was not my case...
This tour was definitely worth it. It was an excellent experience to see the Sumo practice. The Sumo wrestlers are true artists who practice their craft with dedication. The area where we observed them was within feet of them. So it was up close and personal. I recommend this tour if you want to visit Sumo wrestlers up close and personal. There was no guide and you had to provide your own transportation to the practice site.
An amazing experience overall, very intense practice. I think a little bit of history about sumo could be shared while waiting and this will enhance the overall experience.
It is worth the ticket price to be able to witness the training of the famous Akatsuki Akatsuki. If there is a stool to sit on, Zhong is good.
