Tea House Theater Experience Very interesting to say the least. The music and the traditional instruments were amazing 😍 and to see artists hone their skills to perform on stage definitely deserves commendation. The dim sum was delicious too.
A splendid performance from the tea theatre team. The performance was conducted in fully Cantonese but u have full subtitle above the stage. So entertaining. The food was good also. I requested for vege choice by email.
It was a wonderful experience watching a condensed experience of Cantonese opera at the Tea House Theater inside the Xiqu Center in West Kowloon. The center itself is easy to reach as it is connected to the Tuen Mun line MTR. Claiming the ticket was also easy and smooth. The show is accompanied by some dimsum snacks which is included in the package. Very recommended to watch if you want to know more about Cantonese culture.
Enjoying Cantonese opera while savoring Chinese dim sum and fine tea is a truly unique experience. The tea is served hot, with a smooth and mellow taste, making it extra special! The host provides an accessible introduction to the key concepts of Cantonese opera: singing, recitation, acting, and acrobatics, accompanied by a short excerpt to aid understanding, allowing everyone to better appreciate Cantonese opera. Although the performers are emerging talents, their skills are remarkable, and their performance is dedicated and engaging, making it well worth seeing again and again!????????
What an excellently curated show with musical excerpts, video and live demos, opera scenes and operatic singing from well-trained emerging artists. Such a fun and unique experience to be in the tea house theatre having tea. They only open the show doors 15’ before showtime so no need to arrive so early. There is no bench seating outside the venue. There are many restaurants and eateries in the complex so you can grab a bite to eat before the show, but save some room for the trio of dim sum provided at each seat for the show.
Very beautiful experience to discover Chinese opera. Good performances by the actors and clear explanations from the session host about all the characteristics of Xiqu. All this accompanied by a snack including dim sum (which can be vegetarian on request) as well as tea.
perfect way to learn the traditional chinese opera. The performance was very nice and very interesting.. the discipline and uniqueness was really something… very elegant.. thank you xiqu for ensuring this performances lives for the new generation to know and learn. it was really amazing and i really enjoyed the entire 90minutes act. the music, dance and singing was really amazing… please note, this is an opera, it keeps its elegance and serene music.. after the performance, you may buy tea from the tea shop with free taste on different teas
I thought it was an interesting idea to watch Peking Opera while enjoying tea and dim sum served in insulated glasses. It was unfortunate that there was no Japanese translation, but the Chinese and English texts displayed above the stage made it easy to understand the content. The dim sum was also delicious. Above all, I was surprised at the high level of artistry in Peking Opera (or should I say Cantonese Opera?). I could really see the high quality of the musicians and performers in the background. It was a very enjoyable 90 minutes. Also, it was a great deal to be able to watch it at half price with the senior discount for those over 60 years old♪
