The place was beautiful and staff were excellent. The facilities were a little outdated but well maintained. The traditional breakfast included a mini tofu hotpot, grilled fish, egg omelette, rice, pickles, and miso soup, with a delightful fruit dessert of orange, blueberries, and some sort of jelly. Literally about two blocks from the Nishiki Market.

100% authentic experience. Huge rooms, my had separate toilets, wash basins and bath. Exceedingly polite and helpful service. I enjoyed yhebKaiseki for 4 days but wife didn't - so you are literally a stones throw to Nishiki + loads of other place nearby. I also enjoyed the public bath, very clean and organised. The futons were so comfy that we are looking for the same to buy. Just decide if kaiseki is your thing, but other than that no hesitation to book again.

Solo stay

What an amazing first stay at a Ryokan! The property, staff and amenities are top notch. The proximity to all the major attractions without being inundated with other tourists allows for a quieter stay. From the welcome tea and sweets, to the thoughtfully laid out room, to the amazing onsen on premises, to the check out process and parting gift, they thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. I would highly recommend this property to anyone staying in the Kyoto area.
