Things to do in Takashima

Sanzen-in Temple is beautiful and the grounds are very pleasant, but it requires a bit of walking uphill, so those with mobility issues should consider this carefully. Lunch is on your own here, but there aren't many options along the way, so I recommend bringing some cookies, rice balls, etc. with you. Honestly, the other shrines are all very small attractions. You can't stand right at the sea-based torii gate to take pictures, and you can't even cross the street to get there (I don't know if it's normally like that or if it was because of construction). You have to stand on something high up across the street to take pictures without the guardrail blocking the view. If the weather isn't good, you won't be able to take pretty pictures. Mangetsuji Temple is also very small. Once you've taken pictures of the sea shrine, you can basically leave; there's nothing else there. The cake factory at the end was probably crowded because we were there during a Japanese holiday, and we didn't have enough time to shop properly or have coffee and cake; it was a bit rushed. Overall, it was neither particularly good nor bad. It's suitable for people who like to take beautiful photos on a nice day, otherwise you might be a little disappointed. However, these places are harder to reach on your own, so a day trip that quickly unlocks the check-in is nice, so you don't have to spend too much effort going there yourself.

I really didn't expect to have this Miho Museum trip! The tour guide, Casper, put a lot of effort into explaining the cultural differences, history, and festivals of Kanto and Kansai. 🫶🏻 He also proactively helped everyone take photos and flexibly arranged the itinerary so that everyone was very satisfied. 👍🏼 Thank you so much!!!

Visited the MIHO Museum, which has a collection of ancient art. Had to pay the entrance fee on-site. Then took a long bus ride to see Biwa Lake and the Torii gate in the water. Ended the trip at an old temple; the highlight was the mirror reflecting the trees. I was the only English speaker on the entire trip; everyone else spoke Chinese. The guide took great care of us, explaining everything well in both languages. It was enjoyable and I got to see new places, but I would recommend spending more time in the Shiga area.

the best way to experience long distance places is by booking a tour. a hassle free and having a tour guide managing your time in each places visited. so far i enjoyed every places from this tour. prepare extra cash for ticket ride to The Biwako Terrace. their cafe’s and restaurants accepts CC payment. i did not regret paying to relax and enjoy my drink in the Infinity Lounge. summer was really hot in Japan so i had umbrella and a portable fan.

Had a great time exploring Lake Biwa! I was the only non-Chinese speaker in the group, but our guide made sure I was included the whole time—translating key info and checking in with me throughout the tour. I forgot her name, but she was incredibly helpful and friendly. All the stops were beautiful—I loved every place we visited!

I booked this tour two days before departure and had a great experience. Our driver and guide, Nicklee, was very responsible and attentive. He picked us up and dropped us off, and also explained the local Japanese culture and tourist attractions along the way. He was kind and friendly, thoughtfully provided water, and took care of everyone.

Ako was a great guide! Loved the Metasequoia avenue! not so much tourists unlike tourist spots in Kyoto.
