What to expect
Start your morning amongst the bustle and hustle of Nishiki Market, a traditional Japanese market home to an assortment of food products and over a hundred shops selling fresh seafood, seasonal produce and cookware – it's no wonder it's known as 'Kyoto's kitchen'! Our recommendation? Try the soymilk of Senmaruya, a vital ingredient for Kyoto home cooking, with a history of over 210 years. You might find your visit to Teramachi Kyogoku Street somewhat bemusing: the confluence of historical and modern results in the big fashion brands like Louis Vuitton nestled comfortably beside the traditional shops like woodblock painting store Daishodo. This tour is the perfect fusion of cultural experience...and retail therapy session!

Reviews
nice trip ☺️ The tour guide is very responsible, highly recommended 😀
Great tour of the Kyoto food markets. Got to try so many delicacies from many of the friendly shopkeepers. We had been to this street before, but our guide really made it come alive for us with lots of interesting commentary. We learned lots of interesting details about certain shops that we didn't have a clue about the first time around. Highly recommended for foodies!
Excellent guided tour. Visited lots of interesting local Kyoto shops, some have very historic roots from Japanese ancient history. Lots of food to try. We found lots of great souvenirs to take home
Good tour and informative. If you just want to shop, you can just come to the streets and browse yourself. You can learn more about Japanese Kyoto culture and history from the guide.
Guided tours are very detailed, visiting the old market to taste fresh seafood, eating and drinking along the way, a good journey
If there was 0 star then that would have been my rating. This activity is just a waste of money considering its price. The guide is not actually a tour guide but an excess companion. She doesn’t even most shops are closed before 10am. There is no clear activity from her of what these places are. We were expecting that she would explain but there is none. We thought there are historical significances with these market that she will explain like what most tours would be. I suggest Klook should remove this activity from their website and that a refund must be issued.
Tour is totally not worth the amount paid. Very disappointing trip. Tour guide did not give any insider take of the japanese market nor introduce any of their food culture. The tour starts very early in the morning around 9 plus where not all shops ate opened. The tour guide only acted as a companion and with or without her does not make any difference. In short, you can do this tour by yourself without any guide and you are likely to accomplish more. Disappointing and worthless tour don't bother to buy!
