Reviews
Our guide, Xiao Zhou, was very thoughtful and flexible, providing us with lots of explanations along the way. Jozankei on 10/20/2025 was already a vibrant tapestry of autumn colors across the mountains – stunningly beautiful! For us, Otaru was mainly about trying the highly recommended Uni & Eel rice bowl at Sekaku. Personally, I found it just okay. Otaru's main street is very commercial, filled with shops. Braving the cold to browse stores you could find in any city mall didn't feel worth it, unless perhaps it's beautiful in the snow. Otaru won't be on our must-return list, but it was fine as a side trip on the tour. I wouldn't recommend making a special trip just for it. Finally, the Shiroi Koibito Park factory turned out to be the highlight of the day. Although it's also a commercial venue, it has a genuine appeal: beautiful architecture, lovely gardens, and charming Halloween decorations with real pumpkins. There's even a toy carnival performance every day at 4:30 PM, making it well worth a visit for couples, families, and friends – almost felt like being at Disneyland. Overall, joining the tour for $60+ was very convenient and made for a fantastic value-for-money day.
We chose to take the Hoheikyo Onsen that opens at 10a.m. , while waiting outside we enjoy the scenery. We took 30mins Onsen bath at Yen 1,000. It was sooo nice , inside had lockers wherein you drop a yen100coin, and the key is in a bracelet type, so you will never lost it while bathing. First we dip in the indoor Onsen , when our bodies were heated up , then we went to the outdoor Onsen, a one of a kind experience. We should have stay longer but time is limited. We enjoy our seafood luch at Otaru , then visit at music box and glass museum. and Le Tao bakeshop. We got Hokkaido milk ice cream at Shiroi Koibito Park, it was creamy and very good , highly recommended.
I had booked this daytour just me and my hubby. The tour started on time and a tour in a small bus, just the 10 of us. We both love the indoor and outdoor onsen at Jozankei. Second stop was Otaru and Shiroi Park. Overall a good experience with Klook
The guide Michelle was caring. The views of the trip should be a very good one. However, we encountered a very bad weather - non-stop gale with heavy rain. Our tour group was a small one with only 16 tourists, I think the tour bus was a bit too congested for cold and wet weather though (every one was wearing a thick coat with a wet umbrella).
it was very easy to find tokyu rei hotel, and there were enough time to do everything, except for otaru canal, i suggest to do atleast 3 hrs or more there.
I was surprised when I chose the mountain stream hot spring. The hidden open-air hot spring has a beautiful scenery. I arrived earlier than expected and had to wait for a while before it opened. But I was the first to go in. No one was so comfortable. It is not comparable to ordinary hot spring hotels. After soaking, I came out. When I saw people queuing up to show up, most of them were Japanese. The schedule for Otaru and Shiroi Koibito is also just right. The cantaloupe soft ice cream served at a small shop near Otaru Deba Trail is delicious and special. It is worth recommending! There were only 6 people in our group. We took a small car and the tour guide and driver took care of us all the way. It was really great value!
The itinerary was very tight, visiting three places in one day. The tour guide was very professional in introducing the tour in Japanese, Chinese and English. I was very lucky. It snowed heavily the night before in mid-to-late November. When I was soaking in the hot springs in Hoheikyo, I saw snow accumulation and snow falling on my head. Unfortunately, the time was too short and I only had 1 hour. In the afternoon, the snow began to melt in Otaru. The road was very slippery. The parking place was 15 minutes away from the canal. Shiroi Koibito Park was average. It would be better if the park could move 15 minutes to the hot springs~
this is a private tour or self tour just a van that will bring you to tourist places and your free to roam around at a given specified time. time is ample to roam around, also the driver is good.
Participating in this one-day tour of Jozankei Hot Spring, Otaru, and Shiroi Lovers, I was surprised that there were only two people in the group, me and another Japanese group tour chartered car. The Chinese tour guide Da Shan is friendly and courteous. He will clearly explain the waiting time and location every time he arrives at the scenic spot. In addition, the weather on the day of the trip is very good, so there is enough time to take many beautiful photos.
The lady tour guide was very friendly and helpful. She kindly stopped for us to take photos at a spot with beautiful scenery and even made a stop so that some of us could experience the first snow of this autumn. Overall, I would rate this tour as good, as we had sufficient time to explore each destination. the Onsen experience was superb!
