The Shisanhang site preserves the prehistoric Iron Age culture of Taiwan from 1800 to 500 years ago. According to archaeological experts, the people may be related to the Ketagalan tribe among the Pingpu people. In 1998, the government officially began to build the “Shisanhang Museum of Archaeology” on the preserved land of the Shisanhang site. The museum preserves and displays the relics of the ancestors, hoping to introduce the precious prehistoric site to all visitors. In addition, it also set up a time-space sky bridge and regularly holds various special exhibitions, hoping that people can experience the historical trajectory of Shisanhang culture across time while enjoying the Tamsui River bank.
The museum introduces the Shisanhang culture discovered from the site in an interesting way, letting us know what life was like for the Shisanhang people a thousand years ago. At the same time, it also regularly holds special exhibitions, sometimes introducing the historical trajectory of the Tamsui River’s development, and sometimes archaeological explorations with scientific and educational significance. The special exhibitions are very relaxed and interesting, allowing visitors to absorb rich knowledge while having fun, and also inspiring children’s interest in history.
